A glimpse into another story

There’s a definite buzz in the air as your group makes their way towards the city entrance. What surprises you is that there’s not throngs of people awaiting this supposed chosen one. When you comment on it, Helja simply smiles.

“Not everyone can set their own schedules like we can. Plus, the city is big, I imagine that most people will find other spots to watch from.”

Marin chuckles. “And not everyone is a believer in all this prophecy stuff. I’m here because we’re all here. Although I suppose getting a good look at this supposed hero isn’t a bad idea.”

You nod. “Do we know anything about him?”

Hayley shakes her head. “Not really. He’s from the new world, and the first thing he did was depose King Halid. No great loss there. And he’s apparently pretty young.”

Naia nods excitedly. “Oh, and he has a big harem like ours! I bet they’re pretty!”

You chuckle. “I don’t know how relevant that is, Naia. But thanks.”

Julie laughs. “All these women around you and you still don’t realize that it’s always a competition? It’s amazing you’ve lived this long, Greg.”

Before you can come up with an answer for that, Sanni gets your attention. “Look, I think that must be him!”

Your group quiets, looking towards the gates, as a group walks through. You immediately recognize the fire-touched dwarf woman leading them as the Daughter of the Forge. Beside her is a human man, who you would guess to be in his early twenties. He doesn’t appear to be anything special at first glance, dressed casually and carrying no visible weapons, but after a moment you realize that there’s a confidence about him that speaks to his quality. He carries himself like a veteran, even as he looks around in seeming wonder at the dwarven city.

His entourage is far more interesting, however. In particular, the trio following directly behind him. A stunningly beautiful gorgon is holding hands with what can only be a half-dragon, the two of them sharing quiet conversation. Beside them, tall and athletic, is a red haired woman with large feathered wings that you would describe as angelic. Most striking are her eyes, a vibrant blue with golden flecks, visible even from where you are.

Beside you, Lylah gasps. “I was just reading about this! ‘The magus comes, lead by the Daughter, himself leading the Lady of Scales and the Angel of Vengeance. He will bear news of a kingdom reforged and a gateway repaired.’ I wonder what that means.”

The girls start to discuss this as the group moves past, deeper into the city, but you’re distracted by one of the members of his group. A blonde woman, a human you swear you recognize. After a moment, it clicks. That’s Rachel from the AWIO, the woman who checked your magic! You chuckle to yourself and wonder how that happened.

Regardless, the excitement is over for now, and your group begins making their way back home, the girls all still discussing what they saw. As for you, you wonder what this means for the world you now live in.
