Starting A Fire With A Little Gas

Another hour flew right by as Anna and Kenny enjoyed the morning the way they had initially planned the night before. By the end of three back-to-back rounds of intense lovemaking, Kenny was utterly spent, and Anna felt quite comforted. Her concerns and worries were so far in the back of her head they may have been forgotten, and she thought she more than proved herself on who she cared about now. The duo shared a shower, but Kenny made sure to give himself a quick rinse and jump right back out before Anna got to thinking and their lust got the better of them again.

The blonde girl had plenty more time left in the shower by the time Kenny was dried and dressed for the day, "Anna, I'm gonna run down to the kitchen and see if Brian has some...cereal or something, a little hungry after our morning,"

"I have no idea what you're talking about; we just woke up," Anna teasingly replied from the shower, "And okay, I'll meet you down there in a little bit," Kenny headed out of the bathroom, unable to not smirk as he noticed the still missing handle, and headed out of the bedroom. The sounds of showers running and dressers shutting from the other rooms told him the rest of the group was waking up as well, and he was all the more grateful that he had the chance to enjoy a private morning with Anna without interruption.

Jogging down the stairs Kenny pivoted into the doorway of the kitchen, checking through the pantry and grabbing a box of cereal for himself. He poured himself a bowl, grabbed a spoon, and just as he set the bowl down on the island counter, Brian walked into the room. "Breakfast of champions, huh?" Brian lightly joked as he watched Kenny take a spoonful,

Kenny let out a laugh through his nose, finished chewing, and gave Brian a shrug, "We've been cooking like crazy, and after the omelet bar yesterday, I just wanted to do something quick and simple,"

Brian gave an understanding nod back and wandered over, grabbing a bowl of cereal for himself and sitting it right down next to Kenny, "Got a busy day planned, you're gonna be up for it? I know parties aren't exactly your thing," Brian simply said as he scooped up a spoonful for himself,

"Yeah, not really, but I'm good for it," Kenny quickly assured Brian, "It's gonna be different since I got all of you guys here, and not just Nicole or Devin," He explained with a small smile, eager for the rest of the group to arrive already, "You know, is Juliet is coming, I bet she's going to bring Lila too," Brian let out a small chuckle, "I'm just saying man, that girl has her eyes all over you at school,"

"Thanks for the tip, but I'm pretty well settled, I have my eye elsewhere," Brian cryptically replied with ease,

"Oh fuck," Kenny all but groaned back as he gave his forehead a light smack, "Shit, of course, you do, you and Mindy are together now," The teen sighed under his breath, "I'm sorry dude, I keep forgetting that Mindy and you ended up becoming so close. It's still caught me off guard when she was explaining it all to me a little more last night. Please, don't tell her I was trying to get you hooked up, I think she might throttle me,"

Brian let out an easy laugh, "Don't worry about it, my lips are sealed," Brian assured Kenny, "Besides, it's not exactly like we're dating you know, just having a little fun together for now,"

"Yeah...you know, I...I don't want to put my nose where it doesn't belong but...if you could do me a favor Brian," Kenny slowly began to say causing Brian to raise a brow and turn his head to look at Kenny fully, "When it comes to you and Mindy, it's not my place to judge if you two are just messing around, but if things do start to get a little serious...please don't hurt her," Kenny sincerely said, "You're the first guy she's ever been with and I don't want to see her get crushed if it doesn't work out,"

Brian slid the bowl of cereal out of his way, "Ken, I promise you, I'd never do anything to hurt Mindy. We're...figuring things out, it's not perfect, but I think with some more time that she'll start to understand me better and realize I can help get her what she wants," The teen explained only making Kenny smile back gratefully, "Besides, I'm a different kind of guy these days, I just want everyone to be happy; no drama,"

"I know, we had...a hell of a start to this friendship but I'm glad that we were able to become the people we are now, Brian. I really appreciate you as someone I can rely on these days, and I hope you feel the same," Kenny wholeheartedly added, thinking back to the days when Brian used to bully and make fun of him earlier in high school, and Rachel ended up being the one to come in for his defense,

"Totally man," Brian smiled back before letting out a soft exhale and looking around the room, "And you know, I've been meaning to say something to you since last night, but I wanted it to be just us when I said it," The blonde lowly said to Kenny who also pushed his cereal to the side now, leaning in a little,

"Well, this is as good as time as any, what's on your mind?" Kenny asked back,

Brian let out another long, almost pained sigh and lightly shook his head, "I really wanted to apologize to you about inviting Eric up here for the party," Kenny tilted his head and his brow raised in confusion, "I ended up talking to everyone so fast and by the time I learned that you and Anna were a thing, I had already invited the guy. I never would have brought your girlfriend's ex over if I knew how close you two had been getting,"

Kenny let out a small uncertain exhaling laugh, "Bry, it's fine, I have no bad blood with Eric, I don't hold that against you,"

"Which I'm grateful for!" Brian swiftly replied with a few quick nods, "But I was more worried about screwing things up between you and Anna by doing that,"

"Screwing up things for me and Anna?" Kenny replied with another shake of his head, "How would that mess with us?"

"Hey, maybe you guys already talked about it or whatever, which is even better. I was just worried that bringing in Eric would start messing with Anna's feelings, you know? I remember that those two broke up by ****, not by choice, and seeing him again might bring up old feelings. Obviously, we both know Anna really cared about Eric,"

"Right..." Kenny softly agreed, remembering how the first morning at the lodge Anna was in fact dreaming about Eric still, and only last month the blonde was still in a depressed slump over losing him. Kenny shut his eyes for a moment and shook those thoughts away, "B-But uh, no, I think it's fine man. Anna has moved on, clearly right?"

Brian gave a **** nod, "I'd hope so, I mean you two are officially dating and that's all that should matter but...I don't know man, maybe I don't have your confidence on that end, but I'd be a little worried. I'd probably be the kind of guy to have to tell her not to talk to him when he shows up. You know, draw the line in the sand so we could still have trust," Kenny nervously swallowed and shrugged, "Sorry, forget about what I'm saying, I'm not trying to stress you out with this. The point I was trying to make was, I'm sorry if I messed up anything for you or made shit tough,"

Kenny wet his lips and **** a small smile, "You didn't mean any harm, besides if something does happen, that's not your fault anyway," Kenny reassured his friend before turning back to eat, "Not that it will though..." He added on under his breath, resuming his breakfast wondering if it would actually be worth his while to talk to Anna about Eric. It wasn't something he had even remotely considered having to do until now but now that Brian brought it up, what harm could come from a simple talk, at least to clear the air right?
