Chapter 7 by AinBaum AinBaum

Ahh, finally this long and exhausting day is over, surely nothing else interesting will happen today.

You're right, and don't call me shirley

The crafting menu is quickly pulled up, and although many things are greyed out, stating you "need to own the area"?, you can still craft a simple mat with the collected grass, which will make sleeping at least a bit more comfortable. The next order of business is food, after a moments consideration you decide to keep the better things like hare meat and the ration pack for tomorrow and just eat the rest of the Goblin-Bread and a plethora of berries for now, black- and honeyberries to be exact, you want to safe the red- and mellonberries as they have uses beyond simple eating.

After your needs for the evening are met you set yourself to thinking about things:

  • The players might want **** for their, rather humiliating, defeat. They don't know where you live however and the battle site was a good hour away from your cave, you should be save from their wrath, at least somewhat.
  • The candle you got from Cecilia is definitely due to her religious theme, it's slightly taller than your hand is long, a bit ticker than a thumb and pearly white. Similar to torches, candles give warmth and light, though less, they also make for far less useful weapons, in fact they aren't even supposed to be used as weapons, they are not utility/weapon but rather utility/decoration, untimed decoration, when you set it down somewhere and thus use it as decoration (or steady utility) instead of a utility, it will last forever and only burn down a little bit for looks.
  • The claimant crystal, according to the description (and what you remember from the big update in the morning) allows you to take a possession of an area or lay claim to it. It sounds interesting and like something you want to try out eventually, maybe it would have some kind of bonus to officially own your cave.
  • The daily ration is an item commonly used by new players and npcs on the move. It provides a somewhat generous amount of food designed for twenty-four hours, according to the description this one holds two breads, a piece of cheese, a fried but cold piece of salmon and one serving of boiled potatoes with a baked salmon, accompanied by a drinking bladder of water and even a bottle of strong beer. Three meals for one day, one of them hot plus a beverage and a bonus (the beer), this is how these rations are designed, their concrete contents are randomized for every ration, with the bonus offering a change from the theme, which seems to be salmon in this case.
  • And lastly your encounter with the skeleton and the whole group of them, it's uncommon for so "many" to appear. The only time you have ever seen any was when the necromancer living somewhere in the area raises them, but her maximum is two skeletons at a time, a group of four is out of her league. In other words: either the necromancer hit a stroke of luck similar to yours, or there is a new one altogether. They don't show up naturally around here after all.

After this essence of your thoughts is reached you finally close your eyes and slumber away, eager for, and unafraid of, the new day. The night has always been rather uneventful, most npcs sleep, apart from a few high-leveled beasts which luckily keep away the players, ensuring your safety from them.

The sun has fully set, will it rise again?
