Quitting Time

Your workday passes by without further incident. Maria doesn't come to speak to you again, and Alex throws you a wave as you walk back to the elevator lobby. After you leave the office, you head over to the Rice Room to see what you can do for the evening. Unfortunately, you find out that Ana is sick, and you're needed to man the bar. Uncle Ivan mentions she is running a fever but it doesn't seem serious. You try to discuss your next job with him while you have his attention, but he quickly waves you away as his phone rings and points to the bar.

With a nod, you change into bar-appropriate clothing and start taking orders. The evening flows by like the **** you serve, and soon the number of patrons at your bar is thinning. You check your phone for the time - no notifications. Nearly midnight. Just as you go to slide the device back into your pocket, you see a text message popup. Karina.

Karina: Hey daddy, I know you're working but I wanted to remind you that my exams are starting this week. You probably won't see me much... I love you, goodnight!

Lev: Good luck dear, I know you can do it. I love you, too.

The screen turns black as you lock your phone once more. Exams, already. You hadn't realized there was so little time left for Karina. She has been preparing seemingly nonstop recently, but you just assumed she was studious... It's obvious how hard she has been working. You'll have to do something for her this weekend when she has finished.

And Mia, too! You forgot they're in the same class. If Karina is taking her exams, Mia must be as well. You reopen your phone and shoot her a text message.

Lev: Good luck with your exams, Mia! I'm sure you'll nail them.

You wait a few moments, but no response. She's probably asleep or busy.

You slide the phone back into your pocket and return to your work. A while later, Uncle Ivan comes out and tells you to close up. Soon, you're on your way home. Another Monday finished.
