Get her to come back to your dorm room.

Charlotte is headed back to the dorms anyway, and she and Michelle share a dorm room in the building next to yours, so it's not difficult to convince her that you've got something to show her in your dorm room and get her to come and see it. As you retrace your steps, trying not to stare too much at the delectable little redhead whose body and life you know will soon be yours, she makes polite conversation. "You're going to that costume party tonight, the one Michelle's looking forward to so much?" she asks you.

"Yeah," you say, exactly the way the original Dawn would have. "You?"

"Not really big on costume parties," she says. "I'm sure you'll look great in whatever you wear," she says.

"Only 'cause I work at it," you admit. "I mean, even now I look great, but I'm high-maintenance. The hair, the makeup, all the tanning booth time... I won't bother you with all my beauty secrets, but it's sometimes a pain being me."

Charlotte seems surprised but quite moved by your candor. You'd sensed a slight coldness in her since you addressed her as "Charli," but now she's thawed. "Well, at least you don't have to look like me!" she says. Charlotte is too heavy on self-deprecating humor. You make a note to lay off that when you're her.

"Now, that just amazes me," you tell her, as you hold open the door to your dorm building and let her in ahead of you. "You actually believe you're not beautiful."

Even in the poorly lit hallway next to the dorm elevators you can easily see the girl's so-pale, adorably freckled face blush to the roots of her fiery hair. "Oh, be serious, Dawn!" she says, as with one slender fingertip you press the UP button. Doing it with your ridiculously long fake fingernail poses no problem, so totally you've become Dawn.

You spend the elevator ride and the walk to your dorm room failing to convince the girl that she's a total natural hottie and you aren't, and give up once you're inside with the door shut behind both of you. "Okay, let me get out what I want to show you," you say, and you get of the box with the "pens," revealing your rather ingenious hiding place, not that this can matter at all. Charlotte starts to say something but you just zap her with the black one and in a moment your beautiful new Charlotte suit is in a pile on the floor, wearing the girl's clothes as much as an empty bodysuit can wear anything. You lock the door. Fortunately as Dawn you have no roommate.

You're very tempted to just separate the Charlotte costume from its clothes, strip, wear it, zap your Charlotte body with the brown pen, dress, and leave here taking only the little wooden box with the pens and their instructions. Simple, easy, and the Dawn self in you would make you relish your new identity as Charlotte. But that would make Josh and Dawn both vanish, and with the duplicating abilities of the pens that isn't necessary. You're sure that in an hour or less you can plan and do something more complex and much better.
