Explaining the Truth before a Surprise

"Chief Bridges, do you believe in magic or the supernatural?" Rebecca said standing from her chair.

"No, but why is that relevant to this case?" the Chief said watching Rebecca untuck her shirt.

"Rebecca, are you?" Luke asked watching Rebecca pull up her shirt.

"What are you doing?" the Chief said confused.

Rebecca proceeded to rub her belly 3 times.

"On!" Rebecca said before going invisible in front of Luke and Chief Bridges.

"What is all this?" the Chief yelled and stood.

Chief Bridges looked around in a panic.

"Calm down ... "Rebecca said appearing right next to the Chief.

"How did you?" Chief Bridges asked looking Rebecca up and down.

"Magic," Rebecca said smiling.

"You can teleport?" Chief Bridges said looking back to Rebecca's original position.

"No, I can go invisible. I am a sorcerer." Rebecca said stepping back and disappearing from notice.

"Off," Rebecca said reappearing at her seat.

"Now let's talk about Ms. Kuno's case," Rebecca said sitting down.

"Ms. Queens, You have my attention." Chief Bridges said leaning forward.

Luke watched as Rebecca explained the 'Breeding Day' that the Sunny Day Mall. Rebecca shared information about the Los Angeles Life Coven and their need for soul energy.

"That is absurd, you really want me to believe that a bunch of Harry Potter Types need sex for their magic to work?" the Chief said walking to the window.

"Hells, Men in Black with Aliens or Lizard People make more sense." Chief Bridges said walking back to her desk.

"I showed you that magic is real. And explained that today magic users are farming soul energy while recruiting new members. Luke, show her one of the 'Breeding Passes'. Please read the whole thing." Rebecca said gesturing to Luke.

Luke complied and pulled out a card. He hesitated to hand it to the Chief.

"Luke we're far from the Mall grounds," Rebecca said patting his leg.

At that Luke handed the pass over. The Chief took a moment to read it.

'In association with the Sunny Day Mall, this card heartily authorizes the holder to demand one sexual act of intercourse from any member of the opposite sex with the stated intent to impregnate or be impregnated by a said partner. All participants must be over the age of eighteen. Only valid at the Sunny Day Mall. The issuer is not responsible for any consequences that ensue from the use of said Pass. All pregnancies must be brought to term.'

"So this Los Angeles Life Coven made these cards, and lets the public use them as they wish?" The Chief said dropping the pass on her desk.

"Only for today," Rebecca said interjecting.

"That is insane. Not only would that cause chaos for a day. But that would cause hundreds or thousands of unplanned pregnancies. That would ruin the lives of countless people in the surrounding community." the Chief said banging her desk.

"That isn't right. People's freedoms are being abused. If this is true, then the L.A. Life Coven is abusing their power. Even if some magic group fights evil with sex magic, they shouldn't **** other people to fuck. People fuck all the time. Can't they get volunteers or go start a sex club or sperm bank." Chief Bridges said looking between Rebecca and Luke.

"We totally agree. Luke and I are both victims of the 'Breeding Passes'. And from what I peace together I believe Oasis Kuno was running from becoming a victim herself. She was at a bus stop close to the Sunny Day Mall when she fought a man. But that same man ran back towards the mall. I believe Oasis attacked in fear and fought against her would-be abuser." Rebecca said standing and meeting the Chief's gaze.

"And what of my son?" Chief Bridges asked?

"He reported that Oasis was much calmer once she was in his cop car. Officer Bridges saved Ms. Kuno from the 'Breeding Day'. Oasis didn't **** your officer. She was blinded by fear and your son saved her."

Luke watched as the room went quiet as Chief Bridges and Rebecca stared each other down.

"Ladies, we don't know all the details yet," Luke said chiming in.

"But, I can speak from personal experience that men are equally **** to the 'Breeding Passes'. It's true that the long-term burdens for female 'Breeding Pass' victims are much higher than for men. But I believe we should still be concerned with men's vulnerability to ****. Once a woman is pregnant, she becomes immune to the 'Breeding Passes'. But ... a man ... can be continually given a pass, or be under the effect of multiple passes at once." Luke said sadly.

"Why are you telling me this?" the Chief said turning to Luke.

"Chief Bridges, you are feeling like power is being abused. I agree with you. Many people are being abused at the Sunny Day Mall. It is late in the day and I don't think we can stop the L.A. Coven's magical machinations. But we should try to limit the Late Night traffic to the Mall. Or warn key people of the threat. Like your son." Luke said pointing out the window.

The Chief followed Luke's arm out the window and frowned.

"You have a point," the Chief said walking to a coat rack.

"You have shown me enough to at least believe something is going on. And I would hate for my son to get involved." Chief Bridges said putting on her police jacket.

"Follow me, let's get your future sister-in-law out of here. While I find out where my son is." Chief Bridges said walking to the door.

Luke looked over to Rebecca. She secretly gave him a thumbs up. They collected their things and followed the Chief out. But before Luke left the room he snapped his fingers, and rushed back to grab the 'Breeding Pass'.

"Wouldn't want you to get misplaced," Luke said before rushing to catch up.

The three of them walked quickly through the halls. Just as the three of them passed a break room, Officer Flash rushed up to them.

"Chief you're needed come quick?" Officer Flash said in a rush.

"What? What do you want Flash, I don't have time for your games. I am in a hurry." Chief Bridges said continuing to walk past.

"Well ... your son is back and waiting for you there." Officer Flash said eagerly.

"Why didn't you say so." the Chief said turning around.

Luke and Rebecca shrugged and followed the Chief.

"Let's hope he can come back with testimony to clear Oasis's name," Luke whispered to Rebecca.

"Or that he didn't fall victim to the passes," Rebecca whispered back.

The group made it to the break room entrance. Officer Flash led the way inside. Just as the group thought the room needed more light, the room brightened.

"Surprise! Happy Birthday, Chief!" A crowd of people yelled in unison.

The crowd broke into cheers.

"I thought you said my son was here." Chief Bridges said whispering to Officer Flash.

"Sorry about that, he is still out investigating." Officer Flash said sheepishly.

"I will get you back for this Flash." the Chief said before entering deeper into the room.

Luke and Rebecca watched as a birthday cake was presented to the Chief.

"Luke, let's sing along and pretend we're friends of the Chiefs. I want to establish a relationship between our Sorcery Coven and the local law enforcement. This is going to slow us down, but we shouldn't pass up on a chance to rub elbows." Rebecca said whispering into Luke's ear.

At that moment everyone started singing happy birthday. Luke joined in and didn't look away from Chief Bridges as he sang.
