Pretty much what you figured

You put your phone down and saw her walking towards you and the entrance of the dining hall. You felt a feeling of euphoria seeing your first girlfriend approaching you on the path with a smile on her face. As soon as she saw you looking over at her, she quickened her pace until she was running towards you and leapt into you, pulling you into a tight hug.

"I missed you so much this morning", she said over your shoulder. "Is that crazy to think? I've only been apart from you for just over 12 hours and it's felt like an eternity".

"Not at all, I felt like that too", you responded, pulling back a little bit so you could see her face. It wasn't a lie either, you had been thinking about Amy since your kiss last night in the park.

The two of you walk into the dining hall and grab some food to eat. You both spend about 10 minutes making small talk, talking about what you did this morning, et cetera, then Amy gets to what she wanted to talk to you about.

"So, about last night", she began. "Do you think we're moving too quickly?"

You thought about it for a while, before shaking your head and answering with "Not at all. We've spent so many years together not advancing our relationship to this level, so I don't think we have to worry about moving quickly".

As you finished your thought, she dropped her fork and looked down, trying to hide her embarrassment behind her red hair. The silence that followed your statement wasn't really that uncomfortable either, she was just trying to get her thoughts together.

"Thank you", she said in a barely audible whisper.

It was strange seeing her like this. She usually had a pretty confident and witty demeanor, but right now she seemed a little shaky, because of the emotional rollercoaster she'd been going through in the last few days.

"Do you want to go somewhere else?" you offered. She wasn't one for making a scene in public, and you figured she might be uneasy about continuing this in the middle of the dining hall.

She nodded, and you two quietly slipped out the back door of the building.

"I don't know why I'm like this", she started explaining once out of earshot from everyone. "I'm just really happy and excited about everything that's going on".

You two sat down on a bench, and you wrapped your arm around her. She rested her head on your shoulder and regained her composure.

"So, same place at suppertime?" she asked you.

"Same place at suppertime", you repeated.

She got up, but then looked back and said, "I don't regret moving this fast either, Cody. I was just worried that you wouldn't feel the same, and I didn't want to lose you because I love you".

Wow. Okay, hold on a second here. You tell your brain to stop short-circuiting before you respond, "I love you too, Amy".
