Sofia's blood runs cold, her mouth gaping. One of us? Murdered?. Sofia looks down and sees Thekla's foot tapping nervously as she listens. A vampire hunter? I thought that we exterminated them in Madrid in the 1670s Sofia thinks worriedly.

"I saw a figure running down the alley away from us, but I was too upset to follow. I'm sorry. I should have ripped their fucking throat out" Delphine says apologetically.

"Elizabeth, I looked into Emma's eyes as she realized what was happening. I watched her dissolve into ashes" Delphine says, bursting into tears. "Elizabeth, my sister!"

Elizabeth rubs Delphine's back and looks up at Sofia and Thekla. "We have a problem" she says, a fierceness in her eyes that Sofia had not seen in a long time.
