Chapter 15 by Ben Rosewood Ben Rosewood

How long does Dani stay for?

Only for the coffee

The three got out of the car, where Danielle found herself dwarfed by Spencer's daughter. "Jeez, you're tall."

"Or maybe you're just short." Spencer teased.

"Dad, I don't think that's how you talk to your girlfriend." Amy said.

"Listen to your daughter."

The three head inside, where Dani and Amy sat on the couch, as Spencer asked "Do you want anything Amy?"

"Maybe a juice."

"Sure."

Spencer headed off to make the drinks, so Amy asked "So, what do you do Dani?"

"I work in customer service at the bank."

"Oh, cool."

"You interested in finance?"

"Not really. I'm not that good at maths."

"So what are you good at?"

"Art."

"Like painting, or drawing..."

"Bit of everything."

Pleased to hear the two getting along, Spencer interjected "Maybe you could show Amy some of your photography some time Dani?"

"You do photography?"

"Yeah I dabble."

"That's cool."

With the drinks ready, Spencer headed over to the girls. The two thanked him before he sat next to Dani. Amy proceeded to talk about her schoolday, before heading to her room to get a start on her homework. Once Amy left the room, Danielle said "She's a great kid."

"Yeah, she sure is."

Dani took a final gulp of her coffee. "Well, I guess I better get going."

"Sure. I'll see you soon."

After a kiss, Dani left Spencer's house. He then took a deep breath, and entered Amy's room. Amy laid on her bed in her own world, listening to music as she did her homework. Spencer walked up to her and tapped her on the shoulder.

"Hey Dad."

"Listen, I wanted to talk to you."

"Okay."

Spencer sat down next to Amy on her bed. "Listen, I know this was rather sudden, but I just want you to know that I'm not trying to replace your mother."

Amy smiled as she patted Spencer's shoulder "Dad, I think it's good your seeing someone, and she seems nice."

Spencer nodded his head. "She is."

"You know, maybe you should invite her over again. Maybe for dinner?"

"I thought you didn't like my cooking?"

"Well, maybe you could learn a recipe? You know, one that isn't tuna casserole."

Spencer smiled. "Sure, anything to make you two happy."

What's next?
