You and Fay have had a few outings to Turnbuckle in the past, but this is Golondrina's first time.

"It's a quaint little village," Fay says. "They get a good deal of custom from the Academy, and so they try to butter us up. Flatter us. But it's nothing like you'd see in the magical quarter of London or Edinburgh or even York."

You clear your throat. "They pretend to be a quaint little village," you say. "And it's exactly like a distilled version of the worst of the magical quarter of London or Edinburgh or York."

"Morgan," Fay protests. "This isn't about our first time?"

"My first time," you say. "Your THIRD. That shopkeeper was playing you for a fool."

You and Fay chaff back and forth about your previous visits. After you and Fay had gone once, together, Fay had mostly quit begging you to go. Though you had gone for harvest, once, and year-end. Something in what you'd said had rather taken the bloom off the rose. Fay puts on the pose of being worldly, but out in the world, you're not sure that you aren't the wiser one, with the cautious wit of your hedge-witch family.

But there are some pleasures in Turnbuckle that are unalloyed with deception. The apples are crisp, the hot cider is delicious, and the cottage pie is warm, savory, and filling. The puppet show in the little alley behind the public house doesn't feel outrageously obscene the way it did when you first saw it, but it's funnier now that you understand the references -- some historical, some magical, and some topical. This time, one of the puppets, a stout woman with dark face and hands dressed in red and gold and a hairtrigger temper, is plainly meant to represent the Warden of Leontes. The former Warden now, you must allow. There's a great deal of spanking and chasing round and ripping off of robes, and bits of actual magic in the way the puppets move and speak and cast the seemings of spells. And some rather clever wordplay.

And when the three of you, Golondrina, Fay, and yourself, are giggly and glowing from the puppet show and from the cider -- just mildly hard -- you lead the others to the snug little room you've engaged in a guest cottage in a back street.

It's simple, a wood-floored, wood-paneled, wooden-beamed room with a stone fireplace with etheric conduction vanes to direct the heat round the room. When you arrive, the little fire is burning merrily and steadily, and the room is pleasantly warm. There's a washbasin and a large pitcher, and a side tray with sweet biscuits, tea, and water to refresh yourselves with.

And of course, a big, broad bed for the three of you, fluffed up with a comforter and pillows and a canopy and tied-back curtains -- though the heating is good, the canopy and curtains are really a bit of silly froufrou.

Golondrina likes silly froufrou. She didn't get half-sick of it like Fay, or teased off it like you. It's all still a wonder for her, like magic itself. Though magic is still a wonder, and will always be.

Like sex.

You and Fay cast wards so you can scream and shout and carry on to your hearts' content. Golondrina sits on the bed, a tall, redheaded Amazon of a young witch. She smiles as she watches the two of you working.

No chaperones. No busybodies. No interruptions. Just the three of you.

It's a long, happy struggle, where you prove again and again that Golondrina is stronger than both of you, but she can only pin one of you at once. And the happy struggling leads to giggling, and to kissing, and to you giving a guided tour of Fay's body, her needs and pleasures, to your apt student Golondrina, and then, after Golondrina rises, wet from nose to chin, from between the legs of a limp, blissful Fay, it is Golondrina's turn to teach you.

You whisper in her ear as you lie atop her along her length, her heat to your warmth, her strength to your weedy suppleness. Where to touch? What needs did her body speak? What pleasures did you dream of?

"Do what you will, Morgan," Lolo says. "Do what you will."

And so you make a slow devotional pilgrimage across Golondrina's skin, learning her heat and her strength, her touch and her many scents, until you return to the centers of pleasure between her legs, within her thick red bush.
