Not okay with it
"I'm not really okay with it..." Ethan answers, a little unsure of himself.
Layla blinks. Her jaw slacks slightly and she lets out a sharp sigh, her eyes shifting away. "I see... I'm sorry Ethan, I didn't think this would be an issue..." she shrugs meekly, "I won't do it again."
Ethan watches her expression closely. It's hard to parse, but he's certain she's trying to keep herself composed, not wanting to reveal how upset she is. Which if Ethan had to guess, was quite a bit.
"Are you alright?" Ethan ask the question on instinct, suddenly feeling like he was in the wrong for some reason.
"Oh," Layla shakes her head. "I'm just feeling a little under the weather..." her words trail off. "I don't want to sound like I'm kicking you out but..."
Ethan gets the hint. Standing, moves towards the door. "Oh, no worries. I'll see myself out. I hope you feel better."
Layla nods a few times, looking slightly pale. "Thank you. Have a good evening, Ethan..."
Leaving the house, Ethan can't help but dwell on the final exchange. Something went sideways there, he's sure of it. Layla wasn't expecting Ethan to mind, and that rattled her.
And Ethan would never find out why.
