Chapter 25 by Chip_Arranger Chip_Arranger

That was a little heavy, how do you spend your afternoon?

Not doing much, just working towards the start of next week

You spend the rest of your weekend not doing a whole lot of anything. Summer cancels breakfast the next day, saying she needed to focus on work. Isabella had herself buried in a ton of paperwork and fear of losing her education. Amy went up to her parents' house on Sunday to go see them, and most everyone else had other plans as well.

When Monday came and the workweek started up again, you busied yourself with school activities. There was a brief moment where you and Sophia were bonding really well in chemistry class, but nothing came of it.

Another girl, Paige Williamson, was in your psychology class, and she was in your group for a lot of projects that you all did. The two of you started getting a little closer as a result of spending Tuesdays and Wednesdays working together in class.

You and Summer resumed your morning breakfasts together, and grew a little closer as a result of it. Summer started to see you as a pretty good friend, someone who she could talk to about her weekly struggles or her incredibly annoying father, who wanted her to come over to his place for Thanksgiving break.

Isabella didn't show up to any of your morning workouts Monday through Thursday, and didn't show up to band practices after school every day. She did text you on Thursday, though, explaining that she was still dealing with a buttload of work, trying to salvage her situation the best that she could.

Amy didn't do a whole lot with you throughout the week, she was busy with her own work as well. You two made plans to go out on a date that Saturday, but didn't do much aside from that.

Heidi was her usual cheerful self, but between Mrs. Adams working you to **** and her own work, the two of you didn't have much time to spend together during or after practice.

Your director did notice an improvement in your marching, though. It seemed that your "Great Athlete" perk was paying itself off very nicely, and she was appreciative of your effort.

The biggest surprise came on Friday night though, after the game, you went back to your room to recuperate, not having made plans with anyone this time. It was then that your RA, Jeremy, called a hall meeting for everyone.

When you all made your way to the end of the hall, he started talking about mundane stuff such as someone leaving their used towels in the bathroom or people tracking mud through the halls, but the last item on his list was the one that caught your attention.

"So, administration has decided", he started in an uneasy voice, "that they're going to have to evacuate campus for about a week or so".

That was news to you.

"Why are we evacuating?" someone random, who you think was named Dylan, asked.

"There's a category 4 hurricane headed straight for the coast around here", Jeremy explained. "It's supposed to make landfall tomorrow afternoon, so you all need to gather your things and make arrangements for where to stay".

Well, shit. Your parents were on vacation in Europe for a while, and they had moved to a smaller house after you left, so you didn't even have a house key anymore. You didn't have any relatives close by either, they all lived in New England or on the West Coast. Additionally, you didn't even have a car or a whole lot of money, so you couldn't stay in a hotel somewhere far away for a week. You didn't know any of your hallmates well enough either to stay with them, nor did you know anyone in the college well enough...except for one person.

As soon as Jeremy finished telling everyone the details of the shutdown, he told everyone to go back to their rooms and start packing things up. You went back to your room and packed up a week and a half's worth of clothes, toiletries, your computer, and other random necessities you may need while away. Then you texted Amy.

Cody: Hey, Amy, I don't really have anywhere else to stay during the campus' shutdown, would I be able to stay in your parents' guest room?

Amy: You should be able to. I can text them to get it cleaned up for you.

Cody: Thanks a bunch, Amy, you're a life saver!

Amy: Anything for you.

That worked out well. Since her parents lived in the mountains of Tennessee, it should be relatively far away from the storm's path.

Saturday arrives
