Not bad for now

On the way down you notice a small problem, your Raise corpse can only raise an existing corpse and the stronger corpses, like these of humans or wolves, are kind of hard to "produce" for you, as you alone are not the best fighter, at all. You solve the problem by charging an Orb and firing it at a rabbit you see in the forest outskirts, immediately killing it and then raising your personal zombie rabbit after a good half minute (you had to regenerate some mana first). The rabbit however is nothing but a tool to kill something more powerful which you then adapt as your new zombie. This replacement is found after just a few minutes, a bigger rabbit which dies just as quickly to your Orb, the smaller and weaker one still had its use though, as it was the zombie which found the bigger one.

The next hour or so is filled with the constant use of one certain tactic, you prepare soul trap, your zombie chases another rabbit in your direction, you hit it with the spell but it still comes towards you as the spell didn't hurt and it didn't even notice it, you hit it with your stick or a kick. Over time you kill 9 rabbits like that, each one giving you one necrogy. But after said "hour or so" has passed, the smell of the dead rabbits in your wake has attracted a fox, the battle which ensues once you decide that this is an excellent opportunity to get a more powerful zombie on your side is one for the history books. The great battle of the necromancer firing an Orb of Necromancy at the fox, the terrified animal trying to flee but being stopped by the heroic (and absolutely suicidal) charge of the zombie rabbit, the towering (at least to the animals) human swinging his stick in the foxes side and thus sending it against a tree trunk where it takes just a moment too long to regain its senses, allowing the necromancer to fire a final Orb that seals the animals fate. Your rabbit may have died as good as immediately after smashing into the fox, but that doesn't matter, you raise yourself a new and far more powerful zombie once you regenerated enough mana for that, an undead fox. Now having a good idea what you could take as your next undead vassal you sent the fox to look for a badgers home, it actually takes the zombie longer to really comprehend your command than to really do it and after just a few minutes you stand before in front of a hole in the ground. An Orb is quickly sent down the tunnel, driving the inhabitant to come out and try to rout the attacker, when it does come out though, you "hide" behind the entrance and instead place your fox at the entrance, thus bringing the badger to abandon the safety of his tunnel to attack the "invader", making himself an easy target for your Orbs in the process. The two animals claw and bite at each other for only a short amount of time, and even though the badger would normally win such a fight, you added on top more than tip the scales and the badger is soon dead, not long after turning into your new companion.

This time it's multiple hours that pass while you farm necrogy with the badgers help, but eventually two things happen, you killing your 27th rabbit for today (which brings you to 25 necrogy) and you begining to hear voices, a distant whooping and hollering. After short consideration you move closer to the unexpected noise, figuring that someone so loud won't pay much attention to their surroundings, allowing you to assess the situation.

After a few minutes you can make out a small clearing ahead, inside the clearing are the creatures making all the racket, goblins. At best half as tall as humans, weak, stupid, with long ears protuding from the side of their head, yellow eyes, green skin and just a general uglyness about them. You can see five goblins in total, all of them with not much armor or even clothing to speak of, loincloths and the likes, one carrying a short bow and a small quiver of arrows, three holding crude spears with tips of stone and the last one with an old iron cleaver in his grubby hands. They all stand in front of a simple cage fashioned from wood, holding a captive wolf on the inside. Should you attempt to attack, the possible rewards would be great, a wolf to use as a zombie, any loot the goblins might drop (their weapons may come in handy) and of course the necrogy you might manage to gather here. The risk in attacking shouldn't be overlooked though, even with goblins being bad at fighting (their equipment is terrible and you know from past lives that they normally take no more than two of your Orbs to die, meaning that they have 33 health at most, less than what is normal for most) they would simply outnumber you, the fact that their archer may shoot while the others keep you occupied adding even more. You decide to still atack however, hoping that your zombie-badger is powerful enough to hold himself against the goblins long enough to win the fight.

An attack plan using your zombie, the element of surprise and, admittedly, a portion of luck is quickly made and set into motion.
