“God, I wish,” Buffy replied then froze up. “Wait, did I say that out loud?”

Giles coughed into his hand, “Um, well, a slip, you look a little…fatigued.”

“This thing is nasty and it’s real, Giles,” Buffy told the group as she grabbed her coat. “We can’t wait for it to be ready.”

“Uh, Buffy…” Cordelia said, stopping her at the door, “Be careful.”

“Thanks,” Buffy said with a smile back.

“What was that?” Angel asked as they walked.

“What was what?”

“With Cordelia.”

“What was strange about that. She’s a friend.”

“Buffy,” Angel said, stopping her. “At the party, I could smell her on you. Like I used to be able to smell Xander.”

“She’s just a friend,” Buffy assured him. “And friends can share many things, even kisses. Listen, if you play your cards right, maybe the three of us…”

“Just stop,” Angel told her. “I know you are a teenager, but that’s not how it works. You and me, there can’t be anyone else.”

For a moment Buffy thought about turning him down, but couldn’t bring herself to do it, “Okay, if that’s how you feel, you and me, no one else.”

“Great, let’s find out about the Judge.”
