Did Ash try out another button?
No, she didn't try another button.
### AUTHOR'S NOTE ###
This chapter is a modified version of a chapter I wrote in the original story.
### AUTHOR'S NOTE: END ###
Ash decided to explore this new reality for now, curious about what else might have changed. She put the remote into her bag and continued her journey with her new twin sister. Along the way, she wondered about two things:
Firstly, what were they going to do in Pallet Town now? They were originally going to visit Ash's mother, but now that they were twins, they were both from Sinnoh. She just had to wait and see what Dawn, now Ashley, would do once they got there.
Secondly, what about their Pokémon? It seemed as though neither of them had been to Kanto yet, so they both would most likely only have Pokémon from Sinnoh. But what about their first Pokémon? Ash probably still had Dawn's Piplup, but as they both would have started their journey in Twinleaf Town, Dawn in this new life probably got one of the Sinnoh starters as well.
After a few more hours of walking, the two finally reached their destination as Ash noticed the familiar sight of Pallet Town on the horizon.
"We're almost there, I can already see Pallet Town in the distance," Ash exclaimed happily.
"Yeah, now we just need to find Professor Oak's lab. Can you check your Pokétch, Dawn?" Dawn replied.
"Sure thing," Ash nodded as she started to type on her Pokétch.
Although Ash could have just led them to the lab - this was her home town after all - she decided to use the Pokétch as to not make her sister wonder how she knew all of this. Once the Pokétch displayed the location of Professor Oak's lab, they headed there right away.
"I hope we will find many new Pokémon that we haven't already seen in Sinnoh," Dawn grinned at Ash.
"Me too, Ashley. Maybe even a few that can help me in future contests," Ash replied.
They quickly made their way to the Professor's lab, which was located outside of town and easily recognizable thanks to it's signature windmill. Upon arrival, they were greeted by a dark haired boy in a green shirt and red shorts Ash recognized as Tracey.
"Hello, I'm Tracey, the assistant of Professor Oak. Can I help you two?" Tracey greeted the twins.
"Hi, my name is Ashley and this is my twin sister Dawn," Dawn pointed at Ash who greeted Tracey politely. "We're from Twinleaf Town in the Sinnoh Region and want to start our journey through Kanto."
"Ah, you're the trainers the Professor mentioned would arrive today," Tracey recalled what Professor Oak had told him earlier that day.
"That's right," Dawn answered with a nod.
"Well then, please come with me. Professor Oak has already prepared two Kanto-Pokédexes for you and is waiting together with your Pokémon." Tracey went ahead into the lab, the twins following closely behind. Ash also took note that in this reality, the two had apparently still sent their two starter Pokémon to the Professor before arriving. It didn't take long until they reached the main room of the lab where Professor Oak stood beside a desk upon which the twins' starter Pokémon sat. As expected, one of the two Pokémon was Piplup, Dawn's starter Pokémon which immediately made its way towards Ash. The other Pokémon, however, was not the Pikachu of Ash's original life, but instead was a Chimchar which happily jumped on Dawn's shoulders. After the twins properly reunited with their two Pokémon, they returned the two to their Pokéballs and turned to face Professor Oak.
"Hello you two. I hope the two of you are ready to start your journey through the Kanto Region," the Professor said.
"Yes, we are," Dawn replied. "I'm eager to take on the Kanto Gyms and qualify for the Indigo League!"
Professor Oak nodded in approval before turning towards Ash. "And what about you? Are you going to challenge the Gym Leaders as well?" he asked Ash with a friendly smile.
"No, I am a Pokémon Coordinator." she told the Professor.
"Ah, yes, I have heard about the Pokémon Contests they host in Sinnoh and Hoenn," he began to ponder. "It would be quite interesting to watch one myself, but unfortunately none have been announced so far here in Kanto."
"Maybe they will start hosting contests here as well," Dawn interjected. "Then you could show your skills to Kanto, right sis?"
"Yeah, that would be great," Ash smiled at her sister.
After that, the conversation returned to the main reason for why Ash and Dawn had come to the Professor's lab. The professor went to a desk a few meters across the room and retrieved the two Pokèdexes he had prepared, one colored red and one colored pink.
"Now, to help you on your journey through the Kanto region, I'd like to give each of you a Pokédex," he said as he handed Dawn the red one and Ash the pink one.
"Thank you, Professor Oak," both sisters said at the same time.
"Do the two of you have any other Pokémon aside from your two starters?", the Professor asked.
"Yes, we do," Dawn told him. "However, we both decided that we wanted to start this journey with one Pokémon each, so we left the rest of our teams in the care of Professor Rowan back in Sinnoh." After Dawn had finished her sentence, Ash noticed that her bag did indeed feel lighter than before she had turned Dawn into her twin.
"Alright then, I believe that's everything sorted out then. I wish both of you the very best of luck on your journey through Kanto," Professor Oak shook both of the girls' hands before sending them off on their way.
"Good luck on your journey," Tracey added. "Also, you can always send your Pokémon here in case your team gets too big. We will take good care of them here."
"Thank you, I'm sure you will," Ash replied with a smile.
With that, the two twin sisters made their way out of the Professor's lab and headed back towards Pallet Town. As it got progressively darker, they both decided to spend the night at the local Pokémon-Center and start their journey the next day.
They soon arrived at the Pokémon-Center and were greeted by the once again normal Nurse Joy. Unlike before the two of them were twin sisters, they now always shared a room when staying at the Pokémon-Center. So, after they were given their key by the friendly nurse, they headed to their room and made themselves comfortable. Meanwhile, Ash thought about what had happened today. She had turned Dawn, who was in Ash's original life and body, into her twin sister Ashley and now they were going to start their journey through Kanto. She didn't know if she could reverse this, but she was intrigued by this new reality and wanted to explore it.
Still, she wondered whether she should stay in Dawn's life or if she should swap back lives and live as Ashley.
Did Ash stay Dawn or did she return to her original life?
