Chapter 12

“I look forward to joining this family,” Chris said with a smile.
Moving In
Chris sat on his bed as he checked his phone. A few texts to his parents and his friends to let them all know he is moved in and ready to start his new week at Xavier’s made them both happy and sad. His parents knew this was the best situation for him, but he had to get creative with his friends. A little white lie about him getting a scholarship to this private school as a stepping stone to a prestige university he wanted to go to allowed most, if not all, of them to believe his story and wish him luck. Chris checked his e-mail to see the schedule that was sent to him by the Professor.
“What are even some of these classes?!” Chris asked himself as he looked at some of the names of the classes he had.
“Yeah, some of the prof’s classes are craaazy!” said a voice from the door. The accent was one Chris had heard before. When Chris looked up to see who was talking, and his eyes met those of who talked, he immediately remembered.
“Kurt, right?” asked Chris as he got up to greet the guest.
“Righto!” he said as he moved to meet Chris.
“Welcome to my room,” Chris said to him. Kurt gave him a weird look.
“You mean our room,” corrected Kurt as he hopped onto the bed that was opposite Chris’ bed.
“Oh?” said Chris to that news. “You know what, the professor did mention I would have a roommate,” admitted Chris. “Here’s hoping we can get along well,” Chris said in a cheerful tone.
“Oh for sure, man!” Kurt said happily. “As long as you aren’t a square like Scott, we’ll be the best of friends!” Kurt told him.
“I mean, Scott does seem to be a bit...stiff about things sometimes,” Chris admitted.
“Right?! Like come on, man! We’re young and wanna have fun!” Kurt said out loud. “Not everybody wants to run drills when we aren’t in school!” complained Kurt.
“Drills? Like combat drills?” asked Chris, not liking what he was hearing.
“Oh yeah! He has us do them everyday! Says we have to ‘Be prepared’ all the time!” Kurt explained. “And if you mess up even a little? He drills you twice as hard!” continued Kurt. “Like man, I wanna go out and party with the other high schoolers sometimes! But he always tries to block me!” said Kurt. “Luckily, the professor or Jean normally overrules him and let’s me or the others go,” Kurt told Chris. “Man, I dunno what Jean sees in him. She’d be much better off with like any other guy,” finished Kurt.
Chris’ mind could not help but resonant with what Kurt had just said. Why was Jean with Scott? She was way too hot to be with a kinda boring guy like Scott. Chris would not mind having some fun with Jean. Her full lips would look great wrapped around his cock. The young man was also curious if the carpet matched the drapes. Chris has never been with a redhead and wanted to see if they were as fiery as he had heard. He was able to convince his ex to blow him and have sex with him in school. She never wanted to do anything during school and was always against sex, yet did it so easily when he learned he had powers. Could he mind control people? That seemed the most likely. Could he mind control a telepath? Were they immune to it? Chris simply did not know enough about his powers or telepathy to be able to make a concrete decision.
“Yeah, Scott doesn’t seem like the guy that would be best for Jean,” agreed Chris. “I wonder what she sees in him,” he pondered as he stared at the door. It was at that point someone knocked at the door before speaking.
“Hello, Chris, this is Doctor Hank McCoy. May I come in?” asked the voice on the other side of the door.
“Yeah, sure. It’s just Kurt and I in here,” he told the voice.
“‘A friend may be waiting behind a stranger’s face.’ Maya Angelou, Letter to my Daughter, 2008.” The soft but intelligent voice said. As the door opened and Chris laid eyes on the person who spoke, he was surprised by what he saw.
“Oh...woah…” Chris stumbled out as he took in the person, the creature in front of him. An ape-man covered in blue fur stood in front of Chris. He wore a lab coat and a pair of glasses. He was smiling in a friendly manner, but that inadvertently allowed Chris to see the fangs in his mouth.
“A reaction I am quite familiar with,” Hank said in response to Chris’ utterance as he saw Dr. McCoy for the first time.
“I am sorry, you caught me off guard,” apologized Chris. “But I gotta say,” Chris said as he peered at Dr. McCoy’s body before he continued. “But I gotta say, you look pretty cool,” admitted Chris.
“Why thank you, young man.” Hank was happy to hear that the newest member of their family was not afraid of him at first like many others had been. A smile grew across his face as he had an innate liking of this boy. “I am just here to let you know that you may come to my lab whenever you wish. We will begin our tests to try to figure out what your powers are. From what Jean has told me, the prevailing theory is perhaps a type of telepathy, but neither Jean nor the professor has felt any sort of psychic powers from you. Still, that is our current hypothesis until the tests can be run,” explained Hank to the newest inhabitant of their mansion and school.
“Oh, yeah, sure. That’s fine. Just let me get situated here and I can come visit in a few days. Does that sound alright?” asked Chris.
“Of course. It is only natural for you to get acclimatized to your new surroundings before we begin the testing. I look forward to seeing you in a few days,” Hank said with a smile as he reached out his beastly hand to shake Chris’ hand. Chris gladly accepted the handshake and smiled at the man.
“I’m looking forward to seeing what you can find out,” Chris told him.
