Chapter 13 by The Background Conquerer The Background Conquerer

What Happens Next

Moses and Tzipporah flee into the desert

Tzipporah then grabbed Moses by the hand and looked at him that told him that they needed to flee. Moses looked at her and he accepted on leaving Egypt with her when she offered it to him. They both ran but Miriam stopped them for a moment but then continued to flee down the sand hill and Rameses grabbed at Moses to know what's happened but Moses shoved him away and he and Tzipporah fled from the temple into the Hebrew streets to the outer gates of Egypt. They both heard Rameses catching up to them on his chariot and pulled up in front of them.

Moses: Let us go!

Tzipporah: We're not going back!

Rameses: We? No, wait!

Moses: You saw what happened! I just killed a man!

Rameses grabbed at Moses' shoulder.

Rameses: We can take care of that. I will make it so it never happened.

Tzipporah angrily shoved him away from Moses.

Tzipporah: No! What will that change!?

Moses: Nothing you can say can change what I've done.

Rameses got up in front of them trying to stop them.

Rameses: I am Egypt, the morning and the evening star! If I say day is night, it will be written, and you will be what I say you are! I say you are innocent!

Tzipporah growled while Moses then shoved him out of the way for him and Tzipporah to make their way out.

Moses: What you say does not matter! You don't understand. I can't stay here any longer!

Tzipporah: Neither will I! I've been here long enough as well as he has!

Rameses: Be silent! Moses...

He reached out for Moses only to have his hands pushed away by Tzipporah.

Tzipporah: Enough! Leave him alone!

Moses: No!

Moses then held Rameses arms while shaking his arms:

Moses: No! All I've ever known to be true is a lie. I'm not who you think I am.

Rameses: I don't understand.

Tzipporah: He's not one of you and those monsters who mistreat those people back there and kill their children!

Rameses: What are you talking about?

Moses: Go ask the man I once called 'Father.'

Tzipporah took Moses by the hand to turn away.

Rameses: Moses.

Moses looked at Rameses sadly as the latter held out a hand to him in a begging way.

Rameses: Please.

Moses: Goodbye, brother.

Tzipporah: Come. We don't belong here.

They both then ran into the desert with Rameses calling out to Moses but both ignored him.

The two walked for days across the desert, through sandstorms and cliffs, dried river beds, sand dunes, canyons and mountains and they helped each other to go on when one of them stumbled. One day, they both walked through jagged rocks all tired and exhausted from the journey. Tzipporah was in front of Moses as he tripped from a jagged rock and tear his sandal. In the process of tripping, Tzipporah had turned to see Moses falling but in the process, he grabbed and accidentally ripped off her concubine skirt leaving her in her underwear while also letting her fall in the process. She was shocked and embarrassed but knew it was an accident by this before she saw that he grabbed took off both of his sandals and looked at them.

Tzipporah: Moses! Are you alright?

He then threw the sandals away. He then took off his necklace and gauntlets before taking his ring off but he then stared at it for a moment. He then decided to keep it as a reminder of his bond with his adoptive brother before taking off his wig. Tzipporah saw that her concubine skirt was already ripped, so there was no point in keeping it. She then crawled over to Moses and held his shoulders as he threw his wig away. Sand started to blow towards them and buried the jewelry. Tzipporah noticed this.

Tzipporah: Moses.

He then saw what she saw. A sand storm was coming directly towards them. However, Moses stood up and didn't move and held out his arms while Tzipporah hugged him as they became covered and buried in sand.

What Happens Next for Moses and Tzipporah?
