Miz No-E On Tour !

Debbi tried to settle into her hotel room on the 13th floor, the sound of the Lagos traffic and the incessant honking of car horns still managing to penetrate through the thick windows. The air conditioning was turned up to the max to counter the humidity. She felt very much the outsider, the odd one out. For everyone else on the tour, it was a big reunion after a six week break at the end of the North American and European legs of DollaXL's world tour, of which the appearance at the Reading Festival had been a part. So all the others knew who Debbi was, aka Miz No-E. But there was none of the backslapping and hugs and high fives for her. Not that she had expected any. That was why she had requested that Avalon be invited along as her dresser. She was not exactly a friend but she seemed well enough disposed to Debbi and it was a familiar face. And for her part, the purple haired goth had been only too happy to be part of the exotic entourage.

Which was why she was already downstairs at the welcome party while Debbi languished in her room. Debbi was conflicted about the whole thing. What on earth was she doing here ? She felt like an imposter. She was a serious business woman, not any kind of performer. Certainly not a stripper, thinly disguised as a rap act. She had somehow thus far managed to justify her antics as Miz No-E on the grounds of the lucrative fund raising for charity and the help she was doing in mentoring the college kids who had got her into the mess in the first place. But this world tour with Dolla seemed a world away from all that. Ok, there was still a tenuous link to the charity, in that Dolla had agreed to be an ambassador and there was a full page ad in the concert program. And Debbi supposed she was still helping Jody, who was writing a new set of lyrics for her to learn for each country and who would even be coming along to the final gig of the tour in Rio. The company were happy to grant her a two month leave of absence, the appeal Debbi had recorded in front of the company logo for the SEXFLIX special still being regularly shown, both as a stand alone and as part of the endless repeats the special was receiving on the channel. But Debbi was struggling to reconcile all this with the full on showbiz world into which she had suddenly been plunged and to which she suspected most of her colleagues on this tour realized she did not belong.

The only other person, apart from Ava, with whom she had had much to do so far was the American record company rep and tour manager Natalia, who had been explaining that Debbi's costumes for the act would vary from country to country as they took account of the different cultural sensibilities and local laws they would encounter. It was a small comfort to Debbi that she would seemingly not be performing 'Miz No-E In The Raw' actually in the raw on this tour !
