She passes the tests with flying colours

(Pieter's POV)

I wake up around 7, grab a quick breakfast. Look at my phone, cool, I can hand a new quest to Madelon.

Madelon will receive the following quest:

• Be honest and open to the interviewer.
• Cook to the best of your abilities in the practical tests.
• Make a gesture of goodwill to your brother.

Select reward:

• Perk [Brocon I]
• Private time with Pieter.
• Guarantee of the job.

All of them are what I would like. The perk... kind of worries me. The last is already guaranteed in my mind, so why would I pick that? I can make private time for her as well. I decide to blindly pick by rolling a dice. One, Brocon I, okay, it should not be the worst. I mute Madelon's messages in case she starts messaging during work. I head off to work.

As I pass the bus stop, I spot Madelon. She spots me but doesn't recognise me. "Hey, Madelon, do you need a ride?" I offer her a seat on my baggage carrier.

"Who are you and how do you know my name?" She asks with suspicion.

"I am the person who will be doing your practical test at the catering company you applied to. I am also your older brother. You haven't changed that much." I lie partially, I have seen recent pics she has sent to me.

"Pieter, fine, let me get up." She gets up, and we drive to the company on my bike. We arrive with plenty of time. I'm showing her around and have almost completed the rounds as Jessica arrives.

Jessica smiles and says, "Good that you two are getting along at least. My biggest worry is checked off. Now, Madelon, let's do the interview to see if you meet the other criteria I have." They walk into Jessica's office, where they remain for 20 minutes. Must be a lot to discuss.

Meanwhile, I get sent a referral from Robin from LifeQuest. I try to open the link. And it notifies me that as the QuestMaster, I am incapable of owning LifeQuest. However, for cover purposes, I will be given a dummy LifeQuest app that I am allowed to populate with perks my targets have as well as are unlockable to them. This will not give me their effects unless I have Target Perkshare for said perk. I needn't worry about that for now. I am also allowed to set my level. For now, level 1 is the best as it is unrealistic to have any levels. I thank Robin for the referral and go on messing with my phone.

"Pieter, she has given me assurances that she can keep her parents and her boyfriend's hands off her and herself uninjured. So, now you do the rest of the testing."

I nod and start the test. This is a test we always do, cutting veggies, chicken, and pork. Afterwards, cooking them and then starting the stew. We start doing this, I show her the sizes, and she mimics it perfectly. A good sign she also doesn't cross-contaminate. All of this seems to be good. As we finish the test, we have done most of the work for lunch for two dishes, and the rest wander in. "Just make the planned vegetable dish. The chicken and pork are done." I get a nod from the people who wandered in, knowing they would have less to do. Jessica, Madelon and I head into the office for a review.

"Pieter didn't show favouritism, which is something I was worried about. There is also no issue with your skill. Do you want to start today?" Jessica said, handing her a contract. The contract terms seem to be roughly the same as mine. I have better pay due to my experience and my extra education. And maybe more glaring, only a one-year contract for now.

She signed it quickly. "I will start today. The pay is better than my last two jobs, so this is great. Thank you, and I hope to keep a good relationship with both of you." She goes in to hug both of us. Jessica seems awkward, but I'm not. I do not know if this is a result of the quest or just a random idea.

"Madelon, let's grab some of the tea or coffee. I will do a last check on the prep afterwards and then cook it. If it takes too long, they can always come get me. Jessica, can we finish early today since we started an hour and a half early?"

"You got it, Pieter, that is completely fair. You guys clean instead of delivery, then right especially because you have an extra break." She playfully answers me.

"Of course," I say with a nod. We leave for the breakroom. "So, how have you been? We haven't seen each other in a while." She recounts what she had told me over the messaging app. "Well, I have started dating someone. You have met them during a holiday." I show her the picture Robin had sent me. "I ran into Robin after I left university, but we didn't recognise each other until recently. They had a crush on me then and never let go of it. I, in turn, remembered my flirtatious and romantic interest at the time and thought it might be worth rekindling our romance. We had fun yesterday, flirting and playing games." She smiles awkwardly. "They sent me a link to a weird game called LifeQuest. Haven't received any quest yet, though." She starts to fidget with her phone. "I will go do my checks now." At this point, I receive the message that Robin can receive a new quest.

I leave her alone. She seems worried. I don't know what is causing this, but she might want more. I do my checks, they start to cook it, and I can continue my break. I open my phone, and in the messaging app, I see a swarm of questions. 'Why are you working against me?' 'Why are you not helping me get closer to my brother?' 'Why are you not answering me?' 'Why are you playing with so many others?'

I decide to answer with a simple answer. 'You are not the only subject who receives my aid. I am not working against you. I hope that you and the other people whom I aid will get along well. You are doing well, and I will give your brother a quest to have dinner with you.'

As soon as I send it, I receive a response. 'Thanks, that will definitely help, I think.'

I'll write a quest for Robin so she can receive some XP to get to level 10 quicker.

Robin will receive the following quest:

• Journal your feelings about your gender and sexuality.
• Do vocal practice to make some different voices.
• Go shopping for some new clothes

Select reward:

• perk [Femininity I]
• perk [Sweet Voice I]
• The clothes bought are free.

Those clothes she can pay for by getting new subs. Those perks... I don't know what to do with it. I don't know what they do. Which one do I want to take a bet on is maybe the question. I will bet on Sweet Voice for now. At least it will 'prove' the effect of the vocal training. Let's check what Brocon I does.

Brocon I: Public displays of affection towards your brother are more accepted. Hidden: Target gains a mild obsession with their brother.

Oh, great, that means she will become more obsessed with me as she gains levels in Brocon. Better keep an eye on it, and I hope she will gain more confidence. At least it will mean I gain more influence over her, right? I enter the breakroom again and say, "They are doing great. Do you want to have dinner with me tonight just to hang out? I can also invite Robin if you want." That is to be expected.

"It would be nice if it were just the two of us. You can reintroduce me to Robin later, okay?" I nod and grab another cup of tea.

I walk back to supervise the rest and continue cooking. I feel as buzz as we finish up.
