Who do you decide to talk to?
Mierla & Anzolo
You decide to approach Mierla and Anzolo at their table.
"Oh hey, Irina, you lot manage to rope another innocent soul into your trials?" Irina rolls her eyes at this, "Mierla, you know perfectly well that we don't rope anyone into anything; the trials are perfectly voluntary." "Yeah yeah, gotta give you some grief for it though, especially since no one has ever actually passed them that I've heard of." Irina shrugs, "I doubt that's my fault. Besides, if they can't pass the trials that means they wouldn't fit in with the polytair. It's a miracle the six of us get along as is, a seventh person who would be disapproved by any of us six is just asking for trouble." Mierla rolls her eyes at this statement, and turns towards you. "Anyways, I doubt you came over here to hear me tease probably the most submissive paladin ever," "HEY" "ah there's the reaction I was looking for, but anyways, I imagine you came over here to talk to me and my husband," gesturing to Anzolo.
You bring up how the others still seem to be in character, so why isn't she? "Oh, that's easy." She breaks out into a wide grin, her teeth showing briefly. "Simply put, the company can't so much as touch me, since I have a husband." {if Cleric = true}You nod; makes sense.{else}You raise an eyebrow, questioningly. "Foreigner, huh? Well, I suppose I was too, originally. Nevertheless, contracts apply the same to foreigners as they would to a native."{endif} She chuckles a bit at her tongue-in-cheek comment. "No, it's not great, but I'd still rather be here than have a stake through my heart." You raise an eyebrow, but say nothing . . . for now. "But to circle back around to your question, they can't touch me 'cause they have no power to do anything, not without Anzolo approving." She pauses, chuckling at something, "and they won't touch him in retribution 'cause I'm the company bookkeeper." Huh, that's certainly an interesting situation. "I know, right? I'm basically free to talk at dinner so long as I play the role I'm cast in."
This causes you to look towards him, curiously wondering whether he's equally benefitted. "I know not of this Anzolo you speak of, but I, Lord Octavian of Tono, shall protect this land and its inhabitants from injustice!" Well, that answers that question. Turning back to Mierla, you ask her how she and Irina know each other. "Goes back years, back before I moved here. We had some fun together back in the day, so to speak." Ah, so they're exes then. "Something like that. Now, I don't mind an occasional three-way, but anything like the polytair as she frames it simply isn't for me." She shrugs, "but yeah, moved here from . . . " she sighs, opens her mouth and then closes it. "Freaking gnomes named it such that you can't even say it if you're a local. They must think its so funny." After a brief pause, "locals call it Zoriu, but the gnomes when they moved in decided to rename it Queenstown as a freaking joke." She frowns, clearly not approving of the gnomish naming convention.
"But anyhow, I believe that's the basics. On to lighter subjects," she chuckles, clearly about to launch into another half-humorous statement, "or if you want to dive into the depths of heavy, we could always go there too. Your call, really."
Do you decide to pry deeper about any subjects?
