Can I pay attention to Mia’s duel?
Mia’s duel
After handing over my adventurer card, I head to my starting position in the center of the arena. It sucks that Darx was denied a victory that he earned. So, I am going to win this one for him. My opponent is Lacey, a tall girl with brown hair. I have been able to study her a lot in these last few matches and she is good. So yeah, I’ve got this.

When the duel starts, I begin by placing [Fire Glyph]’s on the ground as usual. It is a strategy that has worked before, so no need to change it. Lacey on the other hand rushes straight for me. I have to stop placing glyphs and take a step back. Is she really going to run straight into my [Fire Glyph]? Instead, just before Lacey disturbs the glyph on the ground she jumps, performing a front flip, and lands on the other side of the glyph. She literally jumped over my defensively placed glyph. Dang it. I didn’t think she would use her [Acrobatics] skill like that.
Lacey then swings her mace at me, but I counter that with a [Riposte]. I can’t express how much I love that skill. It successfully blocks any incoming melee attack while also allowing me to instantly responding with a counterattack. This counter results in me piercing the leather armor on Lacey’s left arm. Hah, I drew first blood. Lacey responds to this by swiftly kicking me in the side. The kick lands and makes me readjust my footing. When next I attack Lacey, she swiftly sidesteps the attack and is immediately positioned at my flank. That must be her [Quick step] skill. It lets her evade my attack while placing her right in front of an opening in my defenses. While I am happy that I am wearing some good chain mail to keep myself well protected from any slashing attacks, blunt attacks like from maces are still going to hurt a lot. Maybe plate mail would be better against maces. No, plate mail is too heavy for me. I should think about getting myself some scale mail instead.
After I receive that strike in the back, I turn around angry and aim my open palm at Lacey. Let’s see how this bitch likes some fire. I cast a [Fire Cone] spell and sprays a cone of fire towards Lacey. The sentinel reacts faster than I expected and performs a reverse corkscrew to jump out of the cone. As I finish my fire spell, Lacey casts a spell of her own. One which causes rocks from the ground around her to lift up and coat her mace. Crap, she is strengthening her weapon. But I can too.
I take a moment to touch the blade of my sword with my free hand. This way I can place another [Fire Glyph] on there. All I have to do is have Lacey strike my sword on the correct spot and the glyph triggers. Then I charge my opponent. Lacey however is ready for my attack and slams her mace onto the ground with enough **** to cause a small earthquake. The ground shakes so much that I immediately lose my balance. I hate it when she uses that [Earthquake] spell. She always succeeds at placing her opponents in a serious disadvantage with it.
Lacey capitalizes on my lack of balance by charging me. She slams her mace, not at my sword, but at my sword hand, which causes me to let go of my weapon. Now that I am disarmed, Lacey is free to punches me with her shoulder. The weight of Lacey’s entire body is too much against my distorted balance and causes me to fall to the ground. Lacey quickly grabs my right hand and pulls it up, while also pushing her mace against my lower jaw. No! I was supposed to win this. I wanted Darx and Roland to see me win. Now they had to see me lose.
I admit my defeat and yield. Then the gong goes off and my defeat is secured. Ugh. I hope darx got distracted by something.
