Messing with Menus; Mucking with Magic
Jerry discovered that he did not need to move his hands to type on his HUD. Simply looking at the keyboard and thinking about what he wanted to type of what icons he wanted to select was enough to control the system to which he had been given access. Jerry found that while there were certain actions that required him to enter developer mode and pause time, he could still do quite a lot as he walked.
When Jerry clicked on the HAREM menu, he was a little surprised to see not one, but two names listed.
Titania: Level 6 elf ranger. Free. Infatuated. Mana generation +6. Prayer Power +3 .
Unnamed Orc Female: Level 15* warrior. Bound (Lvl+). Dutiful. Mana generation +15. Prayer Power +30.
Looking up the unfamiliar terms, Jerry discovered that mana generation was a passive ability that refilled an adventurer's mana pool and increased healing. Prayer power was used in casting divine magic and performing certain rituals. Jerry made a point of learning more about this system when they got to the city.
Jerry discovered that he could conjure items from nothing when he looked up the information on "branding scrolls" and "containment cards".
Jerry discovered that scrolls were single use items that contained magic spells for future use. Branding scrolls were scrolls which contained the spell Bind Monster. Containment cards were multi-use items that could hold monsters within a pocket dimension for easy storage and transport. Jerry found that he could add these items to his inventory just by dragging and dropping. This led Jerry to start looking at other items by doing searches for words like 'potion' 'sword' 'boots' 'enchantment' and other keywords and phrases which the gamer thought would give him an idea of what kinds of options he was dealing with.
After collecting a sizable hoard of gear, Jerry opened the SPELLS menu and found that his Magic Mastery skill had resulted in him having access to thousands of spells, enchantments, auras, forms, techniques, and cantrips. Jerry scrolled through names and would occasionally read a description of spells capabilities. After perusing a few of the listings, Jerry closed his spell list to focus on the road.
Jerry was curious when he found the MAP option in his menu and opened it to find he could scroll in and out on his location and see where he was, where his party members were, and in this particular case, where the monsters waiting to ambush them were hiding in wait.
"We've got company." said Jerry.
What sort of monsters attack Jerry?
