Mess with some settings

As you examine the calculator, you notice a on-off switch, which seems unusual as this style of calculator automatically turns off after a period of inactivity. You flip it from on to off and a message scrolls across the screen. "Awareness of target off." You have no idea what that means. Does it mean the target is unaware of its transformation? You don't think that would make sense, because you can target two inanimate objects, and clearly they wouldn't be thinking anything. Does it mean nobody notices the new item, or the disappearance of the old one? You figure you may as well test it out in some small way in case you are wrong. You start by going downstairs and combining one of your sister's old dolls with her latest fashion magazine that just arrived today, giving you the latest issue of "Barbie Gossip." Like waiting on a cue, your sister Zoe finally comes out of her room for the day and sits on the couch and happily reads. When she puts it down for a bit you ask her if there is anything interesting. She replies "Oh, you know, some neat fashion and decorating tips for your Barbie dream home." You cancel the merge and she continues reading the magazine. After she finishes, you ask if she noticed anything odd which she denies.

Now you know that the setting at least prevents people from noticing anything weird about the final product. Now you just need to know about the disappeared item. You combine the tv remote with one of the cushions on the couch to form a pillow with all the buttons on it. You then ask your sister if she has seen the remote around, and she replies "Oh, its right next to me" and tosses it over, like it is the most natural thing in the world. That confirms that in this setting, the final object is recognized as being both of the original objects, even as weird as they can be.

Before you decide on your next adventure, you decide to play around a bit first. You target Zoe and the Barbie you used for the first test and merge them together. With a flash, Zoe doll is born. Being the same size as a Barbie, she is wearing an exact replica of your sister's outfit: a pink t-shirt and a pair of black yoga pants. Though unlike a Barbie doll, the limbs are a bit thicker, giving some more natural curves. You quickly strip the clothes off of the doll and place her into her bin of discarded toys you had pulled from earlier. "Maybe this will teach you to treat your stuff with some care" you chuckle to yourself as you place another nude doll on top of her, making it straddle Zoe's smile-bearing plastic face.
