Chapter 100 by keron keron

What do you do?

Meeting at her house

You look around to make sure nobody is watching before you deactivate your invisibility ring. It's broad daylight out here in the suburbs where agent Walker lives, where the houses all look the same and there are families everywhere. After Walker wanted to meet in person, you decided to take the risk, but you also want to make clear to her that there would be consequences if she turned on you. You figured that there would be no better way than to meet her at her house, in her own personal space. She was hesitant at first, but ultimately agreed, on the condition that the meeting take place during the day, so here you are.

You knock on the door. It opens immediately. Walker must have been standing right behind the door waiting for you. She's dressed like she usually does, in her pantsuit and looking formal. She makes no effort to hide the gun strapped to her waist. She looks surprised to see you before she welcomes you in awkwardly. You're not sure if she was surprised that you would show up, or by your appearance. Perhaps you weren't what she thought you would look like.

The interior of the house is nicely decorated and Walker leads you to the dining room where there is a large bay window that allows ample sunlight in. She goes to pour 2 cups of coffee for you both and returns to sit with you.

"So, you're "The Ringer"," she says.

"Yes. Surprised?"

"You're younger than I thought, but I guess I didn't know much to think."

You chuckle and take a sip of your coffee. After brief introductions, you and Walker start talking business and how your arrangement will work. It looks like you each had some ideas in mind and it turns out to be a useful discussion, as you both have things in mind to achieve.

Halfway through the conversation, you see a car pull up in the neighbor's driveway, visible from where you're sitting with Walker. From the car, exits an couple in their mid-40s. The woman is quite pretty even at her age while the man looks plain and ordinary. If you had to guess, you would say that they're Indonesian or Filipino. After them, from the backseat exits a much younger woman who's dressed in a catholic schoolgirl uniform, holding a bunch of books in her arms. She looks like a splitting image of Putri, the escort from last night. You realize you had stopped talking and Walker is looking at the same scene.

"She's..." you say.

"Marina Wijaya. Yup..." Walker responds. "She turned 18 about 6 months ago, I think."

"Did Jack...?"

"I don't know for sure. They've been our neighbors for 5 years. Father's a pilot. Mother used to be a air stewardess. She used to babysit for us. Jack was always... his gaze used to linger, but I never said anything. He thought I never noticed. "

"I could find out," you say, looking at Walker.
