Maya gets held after class

The ringing bell jolts Maya back into the present, the images of Miley vanishing from Maya’s mind. She’s about to walk out with Dove and Bella when the teacher says, “Miss Maya, please stay after, I’d like to talk to you.”

“Oooooohhh!” Bella jokingly taunts.

“We’ll wait for you outside.” Dove tells Maya, pulling Bella along. The classroom empties quickly, leaving Maya alone with her teacher.

“Now I don’t know what’s gotten into you today, but it will not slide tomorrow. Understand?”

“Y-yes sir.” Maya says timidly.

“And another thing, you have to- ah dammit.”

Maya looks up to see her teacher rush over to a box of tissues.

“Are you ok sir?” Maya asks, genuinely concerned.

“Yes, it’s just a bloody nose. I get them around this time of year.”

Maya now sees it. The red fluid dripping down his face, soaking into the tissues he presses against his nose. Maya’s mouth goes dry. She’s suddenly thirsty again. Her vision turns red and begins to blur. That sweet red blood is just begging to be licked up. Maya wants it, needs it.
