Matt, a friend Jake asked over

"I come bearing gifts," Matt, one of Jake's friends, said as Jake opened the door, revealing a take-away pizza box to him.

"Oh shit, that looks good," Jake said in a hushed voice as he let him enter the room and locked the door, not wanting anyone else in the family household to notice the forbidden carbs.

"I think I smelled some boiled fish as I snuck up the stairs," Matt said as he walked over to Jake's couch, placed in front of his console gaming TV.

"Ugh, mom's been on some sea creature diet, which means we're all on some sea creature diet," Jake said with a scoff as he locked the door again. "Some of it ain't bad, but they usually contain more spice than this boiled white fish."

"Spice is important," Matt agreed as he opened the box and tore off a slice. "Like, that's what made people travel half the world back in the day. Salt and pepper," he said before taking a bit off the cheesy end. "Oof, you got some gamer juice for me?" He asked as he began sucking in air to try and cool his burned mouth.

"Sure," Jake said as he pulled out two cans from a mini fridge by the rig, tossing one towards Matt's head. "How did you keep the pizza this hot?"

"Thanks," Matt said with an eyebrow wiggle as he caught the can right before it smashed into his forehead. "Put the box in the engine block, family trick passed down for generations," he continued once he's popped his drink and cooled his mouth. He chuckled at Jake's look of disbelief. "As long as you don't drive for too long and take it easy in the corners, it works perfectly," he said with a winning smile as he took another bite.

"Sounds like a disaster waiting to happen to me," Jake said as he sat down and ripped out his own slice, turning on the television to turn on some casual distraction while eating.

"Eh, I might have grown up in cars smelling of burnt cheese," Matt said through a half full mouth, "but that's a price worth paying for hot delicious pizza!"

Jake chuckled at the visualization and started a show on the television.

"So how much do I owe you?" Jake asked as they finished the episode, having finished eating a while back. He pulled out the phone to transfer some money for Matt.

"Nah, you buy next time," Matt said with a shoulder shrug, emptying the soda can. "No point in rotating the money and letting the bank have a percentage for every little thing," He added as he pulled out a pair of console controllers and turned on Jake's gaming console, intending to play some coop game they've been obsessing about as of late.

"Aight, I'll owe you one then," Jake said as he was about to put away the phone, but he was distracted as a notification from the new app popped up. "Oh, that's right. Some app installed itself on my phone during lunch today."

"That sounds weird," Matt said with a raised eyebrow. "It's not asking for your credit card number is it?"

"No, but, heh, it's saying whatever I write will become reality," Jake said with a laugh and a shake of his head that Matt joined in on.

"Hah, that's a new one. Imagine if that worked! It probably would mean chaos."

"True," Jake said as he pulled one of the joysticks towards himself. "Still, no harm in trying something out to see if it works, right?"

"I guess not," Matt sighed as he booted up the game, pondering the scenario.
