What's next?
Lunch call with Becca
“Hey, Sugar,” I said, unable to keep the big grin off my face as Becca answered the video call.
“Hey, Tiger,” Becca smiled cutely, then frowned just as cutely as she groaned. “Oooh, fuck, just seeing your face makes me miss you so much more.”
“I know,” I sighed. I was set up in my office for my lunch, since my usual working-lunch plans with Dayana were cancelled, and Becca had been available for a call. I was quickly learning that to get proper time to communicate with my girlfriends I needed to take every opportunity available, so this just made sense to me.
Becca looked like she was set up at her computer in her streaming room since the background was super decorated and the lighting was way too nice to be just a basic desk setup like mine. She was dressed in an athletic bra and sweatpants that sat low on her hips, leaving her stomach bare, and was sitting cross-legged in her desk chair.
“Is that sushi?” I asked when I got a look at the food in front of her.
“Maybe,” she smirked. “Look, maybe it’s a little bit much for lunch, but that place two buildings over is pretty good while not being overpriced, and the little old lady who works the cash register for the lunch rush is super cute and gives me free desserts.”
“Hey, I wasn’t judging,” I chuckled. “Just surprised.”
“What are you eating?” she asked.
I tilted the webcam on top of my work computer down to show the tray I had in front of me. “Turkey, cranberry, and cheddar sandwich from the deli downstairs,” I said.
“Um, excuse me, I believe I also see french fries on that plate,” Becca smirked.
“And french fries,” I chuckled, straightening the webcam again to focus on me.
“You would give me some of your fries if I was actually there, right?” she asked.
“I would give you a few fries, and if you wanted more than that I’d get you your own,” I replied. “Please don’t tell me after everything, you turn out to be a fries hog.”
“Oh, is that a big red flag for you?” she laughed.
“Absolutely,” I snorted and grinned. “Just be honest and get your own fries, why deprive me of mine?”
“Well, I know I can handle this apparent line in the sand, but I hope the others can manage it too,” Becca chuckled.
We got to eating, and we tried to avoid gossiping about the others since we’d already done the proper updates via text. Becca had lots of questions about my job, and I filled her in on the latest drama with the potential-maybe promotion opportunity and how things were already getting chaotic. She was immediately on team ‘Fuck that Jonas guy,’ which I appreciated, and reciprocated my chaotic workplace issues by letting me know some of the latest online drama that was circulating in the cosplayer/nerdsphere as one of the mid-tier Cons was having some sort of meltdown in their leadership and stories were coming out from people about their experiences working with them.
“OK,” Becca finally said, setting aside her mostly finished box of sushi rolls and then putting on a pair of glasses.
“Fuck,” I interrupted her.
“What?” she asked, clearly confused.
“You just look stupidly cute with those on,” I said with a little grin. And it was true.
She rolled her eyes, smiling lopsidedly at me, before clicking a few times on her computer. “I’ve done some preliminary research into Operation Vegas,” she said. “And, we’ll need to get a lawyer to help with the final contract and everything before we do it, but basically it shouldn’t be too difficult to get an LLC set up with partners based on investment size. Then, once we know what our initial budget is for a downpayment and an emergency fund, we can look at what sort of a mortgage we can get and what a reasonable monthly mortgage payment we would all be splitting would look like. After that we can start properly shopping around for a place - I’ll need you to help me narrow down some of the nicer neighbourhoods of the city or places I should avoid looking at since I don’t know anything about Vegas like that. I think the first real hurdle is going to be figuring out timelines though; everyone having leases and stuff coming up at different times, and finances tied up or free to put into the budget, will be awkward to plan around. Not to mention you and Cassidy have your wedding next year to save for.”
“Becca,” I said. “Sugar. My darling, brilliant, sexy-brained girlfriend. I love that you’re jumping on this, and God would I love it if it all just fell into place and we’d all be moving in next week. But you sound like you’re planning to tackle all of this yourself and you don’t need to.”
“I…” she started but hesitated and then sighed, raising an eyebrow over the brim of her glasses. “You just told me about how work is getting hectic for you. And you’re right, that promotion would be a big deal. I don’t know what your finances are like, but based on how much I know some of us make, and how it can go up and down month to month, having a steady core income will be a big help in case of emergencies.”
“OK, that’s true. But you have more help than just me to bounce things off of,” I said. “You can’t tell me that Zenya, or Wanda, wouldn’t be perfectly happy to help you tackle this stuff.”
“Wanda is going to be a little fucking busy,” she reminded me. “And if she needs a project to distract her from her divorce and those financial things, I don’t think it’s these financial things. Zenya… maybe, I guess.”
“Just, do me a favour?” I asked. “Remember that this relationship isn’t the trip, OK? The others do look up to you. As a veteran, experienced, super smart member of their industry, and as a woman. But this whole thing needs us all to be equal, and support each other.”
She let out a breath, her shoulders slumping a bit as she gave me a look.
“What is it?” I asked with a little smirk.
“You know what,” she said, making me chuckle and shake my head. Then she sighed. “Fine. I will try to let go of being a control freak when it comes to shared stuff, OK?”
“I love you and your control freakiness,” I grinned at her.
“Yeah, well, I love you and your annoyingly reasonable and logical observations,” she muttered, trying to glare and failing to keep the smile from her lips. Then she cleared her throat and sat up. “What’s the rest of your office look like?”
I picked up the webcam and showed her, turning it in a slow circle before setting it back down. “Why so curious about my office?” I asked.
“Well, it has to do with my next question,” she said. And then she bit the corner of her lip and gave me one of those looks that I’d gotten very used to from the girls over the trip. “This isn’t, like, being monitored or recorded or something, right?”
I gulped and groaned slightly. “Becca-” I said.
“Zenya told me she left you a little frustrated this morning, but you left her very satisfied,” Becca said, leaning forward in her seat as her fingers plucked lightly at the elastic of her athletic bra. “Any chance I could get… a bit of the same? Obviously, you can’t do anything, but I’ve been thinking about you and God that last fuck before we left was good but left me wanting more.”
I’d already been listening to her with headphones plugged in, but I still turned down the volume a little and lowered my voice. “No, this isn’t being monitored or anything as far as I know,” I said. “But I don’t know if it’s a good idea for me to say out loud exactly what I wish I could do to you if I walked in on you wearing that outfit.”
“This little outfit?” she asked with a grin, teasing her fingers more obviously into the elastic of the bra under her bust, and walked one hand down to her sweatpants and slowly slid it down to cup her crotch. “This little casual, around-the-house outfit that would be super easy for you to take off of me?”
“Becca,” I groaned, already feeling my cock stirring.
Then my phone pinged with a text and I almost jumped at the interruption and feeling like we’d been caught, making Becca snort. I rolled my eyes at her before checking my phone.
Meet at 2?
I quickly replied to Dayana with a thumbs up and gulped slightly.
“Uh-oh, that didn’t look like a good reaction,” Becca said. “Something wrong?”
“No, no,” I said. “Just… well, probably not. Cass is introducing Cattie to my coworker, who is our friend, and I don’t know how it’s going or what they are telling her.”
“Oh, right, your work wife,” Becca said, her smirk and the look in her eyes telling me she’d picked that one up from Cassidy and likely so had all the other girls as well.
“She’s my friend and coworker,” I said staunchly.
“Right, right,” Becca continued to smirk. “Well, good luck with that.”
“She didn’t tell you either?”
“Oh, no, she did,” Becca said as if she was tossing it away. “But if you’ve gotta go instead of helping me get the wiggles out before I go on stream later, I guess I need to take care of myself - I went out yesterday and got a dildo that’s about your size, I think. Maybe I’ll send you a pic of what you’re missing. Love you!”
“Love you too, Becca,” I groaned.
The call cut off as she was mid-laugh.
I looked down at my crotch. “Just you and me again, huh?” I asked my boner.
This was not a fun new development in my relationship.
