Biography:
It is rare for an S rank of any race to have a child that is also an S rank. So, when the duke of Inferno saw his third child was designated as S rank, he felt incredibly blessed. He named his son Lucius and doted on him, trying his best to be both his son’s father and friend. He made certain Lucius got the best teachers, the best food, could play the most fun games, all in the hope that one day Lucius could take over his ducal title and become one of the rare dukes that inherited his title. This was of course to great displeasure of Damian, the oldest son in their family. The son who would normally inherit, if only Lucius was any rank other then S, but would now be overlooked. This made it so Lucius had a bad relationship with Damian. The middle son, Belial, didn’t really care, as for him nothing much had changed.
This kind of lifestyle made it so Lucius grew up rather spoiled. After all, he got everything he wanted. If something got denied to him, he could use his position as S rank to force it from people, and if that didn’t work, he could make use of the improved strength his rank gave him. Even his older brothers had to let him get away with things. Or at least, until their dad shot him an angry look. When Lucius took his tantrum too far, his dad would give him the famous “angry look”. That was the last warning he got before punishment happens. Lucius challenged the "angry look" only one time, it was immediately the last time. Even if his father doted on him, Lucius was still expected to learn responsibility. Should he fail in that, he might be challenged for his title by a future S-rank.
The importance of responsibility only got through to Lucius when he was 15. At that time he had learned that beyond S rank, he was also a spellsword and could cast fire magic. But one day his province's capital city got hit by an earthquake. He, his father, mother and brothers took flight and remained airborne until the earthquake was over. But many commoners they lorded over didn’t have wings and ended up trapped under fallen buildings. When the earthquake had passed, his father immediately organized rescue and reconstruction efforts. He even ordered Lucius to help dig people from under the rubble. At first Lucius felt that was a job for soldiers, but one mean look from his father made him realize to not cross his dad on this one. His S rank strength was invaluable at lifting heavy rocks and he personally pulled many of his subjects out of the rubble. Over the course of several days, he experienced exhaustion but the sight of hope and gratitude on the faces of the people he saved is something that stuck with him. After the disaster, when the commoners praised him and his father, Lucius gained a new understanding of what it means to be responsible. Especially since now many girls were paying attention to him. It motivated Lucius to be extra diligent in his studies and made certain he knew how to govern the province when he eventually became Duke. People do love a responsible Duke.
The day of his inheritance came sooner than expected as his father got assassinated. Suspicion first fell on Damian. After all, it was Damian who would originally inherit their father’s title, and then pass it on to the S rank woman he married, as usually happens. For this plan to succeed however, Lucius would have to die as well, so Lucius and Damian were kept separate as the investigation progressed. It was then that Belial revealed himself as their father’s killer and fought Lucius. It was a difficult battle, since Belial had several allies to help him against Lucius, but then Damian showed up and helped Lucius fight against their treasonous brother. With Damian’s help, Lucius was able to defeat Belial and kill him, but not before Belial cut off Damian’s left arm.
After becoming the new Duke of Inferno, Lucius appointed Damian as his regent. The man responsible to help him lead their province and taking over his duties as a duke when he is away. The two brothers finally developed respect for each other and saw one another as equals.
When Ziges started his rebellion, Lucius felt that even if the old demon king had been killed, it still didn’t mean Ziges could suddenly be Demon King. To be king over so many people meant to be responsible for all, and Ziges did not appear to have any care for the concept of responsibility. So, Lucius gathered his legion and fought on the side of the loyalists. Unfortunately, the rebels outwitted them, attacked the Inferno provincial capital and captured Damian. Lucius was told to either surrender or Damian would be executed, so Lucius had no choice and surrendered.
Ziges stripped both Damian and Lucius of their wings and told them that if they wanted them back, they would have to earn them back by proving their loyalty. This was a huge blow to Lucius’ self-esteem and he vowed to earn his wings back.
