Chapter 23 by OccasionalReader OccasionalReader

After an unknown amount of time passes, you wake up

Look around at your surroundings

The very first thing you do is panic: where the fuck are you? Which is a question quickly answered as you push yourself off the floor: in a cell of some sort. Iron bars are 3 inches apart on one wall, allowing clear visibility to the bordering hall. You see two windows, about half a foot squared at human head height, one on each neighboring wall. The fourth wall is solid stone, the only light coming from a dimly-emitting gloworb mounted to the ceiling (too bad you don't know its command word). Inspecting the cell in more detail now, there's a six-inch gap between the floor and front barred-wall, presumably where food is slipped underneath. Looking through the window nearest you, the room through it is empty. The other window reveals Irina, still in armor, and shackled to the wall, chains and shackles both made of adamantine.

"Irina!" She opens her eyes, looking to you. "Ah, they didn't shackle you. Try to figure out a way to get us out of here. Best do it before they figure out what to do with us." You shudder, the words of the bodyguard echoing through your mind: you would make a decent sex **** if you weren't a customer. You've got to get the fuck out of here (preferably with Irina) before they make good on that.

You take a moment to calm yourself, taking deep and slow breaths: panicking won't help you figure out to escape.

After calming down, you reexamine your surroundings with the sole goal of escape. Supposing shapeshifting were an option, you could just slip through the bars.{if Gaseous Form spell == true} Oh wait, it is. Still need to figure out how to get Irina out though.{endif} If you had some form of thieves' tools, you could try your hand at picking the lock on the door: you get the feeling you and Irina are the first adventurers to be held in these cells (that, or the first to successfully infiltrate their way inside the building, even if only temporarily successfully). Other than that, the cell isn't exactly giving you much to work with: no loose stones, no loose bars, and no furniture inside the cell. You suppose you'll have some form of utensil to eat with when they do finally decide to bring you food.

You head back to Irina's window, "I think I can get us out, {if Gaseous Form spell == true}just give me one moment{else}but it's not going to be an immediate fix — I'll need some time{endif}." She simply nods in response, "I'll trust you here; it's not like I have a whole lot of choice here." You nod twice in response, steeling yourself for the task ahead.

Please comment other ideas for escape, within reason
