Liv Gets a Lucky Shot

Liv panicked as Emmaline leapt down from their perch and into the path of the armored Gnolls, but only for a moment. She couldn’t allow herself any longer than that. Liv, trusting the flirtatious acrobat to dodge for long enough, sighted her rifle and searched for a target.

Fuu was still dodging and striking at the Chieftain. The monk seemed to have the upper hand but they were moving so quickly that Liv couldn’t get a clean shot on the massive beastman if she wanted to.

Becky was swarmed by Gnolls. Liv could barely see the blond waif through the bulk of the beasts around her. Liv took a shot at the most outlying beastman, sure that Becky was closer to the middle, and watched him drop like an abandoned puppet.

Liv grit her teeth as she saw the mass of Gnolls move, claws swiping in and coming out with strips of cloth. If not for the doctor’s potion, Becky would have been cut to ribbons by now.

As some of the crowd realized that Fuu was getting the better of their leader, they would break off in ones or twos. Liv managed to take out three before her vision was blocked by a flare of light and acrid smoke. Liv turned to see the armored Gnolls rolling in pain as they burned. Emmaline looked satisfied with herself and Liv almost graced her with a smile when their eyes met, but she saw something more important.

The Shaman, leaning on his gnarled wooden staff, was half hidden behind a tree. The Gnoll lifted a hand, arcane runes floating before it as he gestured toward Emmaline.

Liv ventilated him before he could fully extend his hand. As the beast fell, magic flared out from around the body, striking trees but not reaching any of the Bravos.

Liv turned back to find Emmaline giving her a sultry smile. Liv could feel her cheeks warm before turning back to the battle. Liv and Emmaline were safe for now, but they had to stay focused and support their front-liners.
