I actually lacked the most basic light skill which was as far as I learned the most simple application of divine power. Just guide your power to your palm and release it continuously in small increments. Making your hand glow up in the meanwhile.

This had been my first obstacle to overcome as I would definitely need the skill as simple as it was so too was it useful. Always having a torch with you was burdensome and left one hand occupied and buying a skill-book just for this would be incredible wasteful.

It was so rudimentary that it wasn’t even listed among Claire skills despite her using it fairly often.

Thankfully I never had to demonstrate that one but placed it as a personal goal to learn until the end of the month.

As we arrived in the dinning hall all of us sat down on one of three very long tables right next to each other. With most senior nuns sitting closer towards the front where the kitchen stood and more junior nuns sitting closer towards the open courtyard you could see from here.

Food was already placed on the table, an assortment of mashed potatoes, soup and vegetables. With self made bread and fresh grape juice from this mornings harvest.

This might actually be some of the grapes Caro and I stomped this morning, likely purified and put through a sieve.

We all put our hands together and closed our eyes for a small prayer led by the Abbess before lunch began.

That I made it myself today definitely made it taste even better than usual and as for the rest of the food I had no qualms either. There might be a lack of meat during lunch but it still tasted delicious and I had some fresh eggs during breakfast anyway.

There was no rule forbidding nuns from eating meat but we usually only did so during dinner. As I mentioned the Monastery was quite well off but that didn’t mean there was a need to serve meat during every meal when we had a good harvest and plenty of vegetables available from both our own garden and due to trade with the villagers.

I especially enjoyed the mashed potatoes with butter, we had no cows of our own due to the uneven terrain only chickens and goats but the villagers further down the valley held many different kinds of cattle so we had both milk and honey available.

This world while looking medieval actually had far more active trade of spices and foods due to all kinds of magic means of transport. While the place I was at right now was truly medieval the rest of the world was actually further ahead technologically, replacing many modern things with magic.

Artificial fertiliser was replaced by either divine power or via alchemical means which is why generally food wasn’t that big of an issue in this world. Starvation was rare at least outside of war and conflict that is, and intermixing of many different cultures led to a wide pallet of different foods I hoped to try at some point.

I enjoyed my meal and went to the library as usual. Caro invited me to hang out with the other girls but I declined saying I needed to study. Caro already having grown used to it from the old Claire simple told me not to fall asleep while reading.

As much as I liked Caro constantly pretending to be Claire was a bit exhausting and I actually needed to study to learn more about this world and practice using divine power without relying on the system.
