Liara enters

Finally, Miranda saw the door open and in walked Liara. “I’ve made a decision,” Liara said. “I took my time making sure to go through everything Jane told me and weighing the risks and the benefits. I searched for every sign. And even replayed memories of our conversations.”

“I know it’s not an easy decision,” Miranda said. “If this were Jack… I mean… shit… well you already know about us… I assume…”

Liara smirked. Yes, she knew that Miranda and Jack had been sneaking around seeing each other. Even before the Citadel Party. In fact, Liara actually happened upon a conversation between Jack and Miranda aboard the SR2 which was saved by the previous Broker. “Yes, I know about your ‘secret’ relationship. Btw, can I give you some advice on that?”

Miranda raised an eyebrow but nodded.

“Yeah?” Miranda asked.

“If you want to be secretive, don’t leave your uh toys in the office you slept in,” Liara said.

Miranda’s eyes widened. She had forgotten that Liara had used her old office during the Reaper War. She obviously had found Miranda’s secret stash. “Uh… noted,” Miranda said. “But… the point is… if this was Jack, I would never be able to make that call lightly. I’m sure Jack has this big plan to go out with a blaze of glory, but I would be devastated if she were to… I know I would have the technical ability to bring her back, but I also know that sometimes, it’s necessary for us to allow them to move on. I don’t want to become my father or the Illusive Man. Obsessed with preservation to the point where our morals go out the window.”

Liara nodded. “I know what you mean,” Liara said. “But… I have made a decision. And I think it’s the right one.”

Miranda nodded. “Go ahead.”
