Chapter 19 by Jmann Jmann

Things are looking bad for Chloe, but...

Liam intervenes

As Valerius focused his immense power on her, his back was turned to the couch. To the slumped, **** form of Liam. And Liam’s eyes fluttered open. He was groggy, his head pounding with the worst migraine of his life, his mind a confused jumble of pleasure and terror. But the impossible image before him snapped him to full, horrified alertness: Chloe’s body, wearing that insane leather lingerie and surrounded by a terrifying red glow, was torturing a shimmering, chained, ghostly version of Chloe who was visibly dissolving into nothing. The potion. The plan. It was all on him now.

He moved with a silence born of pure terror. The adrenaline of a thousand lifetimes surged through his veins, washing away the grogginess. He scrambled off the floor, his half-mast erection forgotten, his only focus the iridescent bottle on the coffee table. He snatched it up. Valerius was completely engrossed in his ****, his taunts growing louder, more grandiose, his concentration absolute as he savored the deconstruction of her soul. Liam charged. He hit Valerius from behind in a clumsy, ****, flying tackle, wrapping his arms around Chloe’s torso, using every ounce of his weight and the absolute element of surprise to bring them both crashing to the floor in a tangle of limbs. Valerius let out a surprised, inhuman roar of fury, the shadowy chains binding Chloe’s spirit vanishing in a puff of smoke as his concentration was shattered.

Chloe was free.

“Drink it, you bastard!” Liam yelled, wrestling with the demonic entity. Valerius was impossibly, unnaturally strong. Her slender limbs, which Liam could have easily overpowered before, were now like steel rods, filled with an unholy power. But Liam was fueled by desperation and adrenaline. He managed to pin her arms with his knees, fumbled with the bottle, then, in a moment of sheer brilliance, uncapped it with his teeth and shoved the opening against Valerius’s lips.

“INSOLENT GNAT!” Valerius roared, thrashing wildly, turning his head from side to side, Chloe’s blonde hair whipping around. But Liam held on, his life, Chloe’s life, depending on this single act. He squeezed the small, iridescent glass bottle, a gesture of pure frustration, and to his surprise, the supernaturally crafted glass cracked under the pressure, sending a cascade of shimmering, opalescent, moonlit liquid flooding into Valerius’s open, snarling mouth. Valerius swallowed reflexively, a small, choked gasp. And then his eyes—her eyes—widened in absolute, unadulterated horror.

Does the Spiritbloom potion work?
