What's next?
Let her lead me upstairs without resistance, waiting for the drug to wear off

The spiral staircase seems to stretch upward forever, each step a deliberate ascent into something you don't yet understand. Your hand remains clasped in Miss Velvet's grip, your body following her lead with mechanical precision. The drug still holds you in its warm embrace, turning resistance into an abstract concept your muscles simply can't grasp.
You count the steps. Thirty-seven. Thirty-eight. Your mind clings to numbers because they're solid, real, something to anchor yourself to as the leather-clad woman pulls you higher into her domain.
"You're still trying to think your way through this," Miss Velvet observes without turning around. "I can feel it in the tension of your hand. That brilliant mind of yours working overtime, calculating probabilities, searching for variables that will help you make sense of what's happening."
The staircase opens onto a landing, and she guides you down a corridor lined with doors. Crimson carpet muffles your footsteps. The music from below is muted here, replaced by a deeper throb that you feel more than hear.
"Two more minutes," she says, glancing back at you with those pink eyes. "Two more minutes and you'll have yourself back. Then we'll see what kind of man you really are."
She stops before an ornate door at the corridor's end—dark wood inlaid with silver in patterns that hurt to look at directly. She produces a key from somewhere in her suit, the movement drawing your gaze to the curve of her hip, the way the leather creases at her waist.
The door swings open onto an office that matches its owner—opulent, overwhelming, designed to impress and intimidate. Deep burgundy walls, furniture that looks antique and expensive, a desk of black lacquered wood. Floor-to-ceiling windows overlook the club below, the dancers moving like exotic fish in an aquarium.
Miss Velvet releases your hand finally and moves to pour herself a drink from a crystal decanter. "Sit," she instructs, gesturing to a velvet chair facing her desk.
Your body obeys, lowering yourself into the seat. The leather of the chair is soft, almost too comfortable.
"Now we wait," she says, settling into her own chair behind the desk. She steeples her fingers, studying you with an expression that mingles amusement and hunger. "Any moment now, you're going to feel it lift. Like surfacing from deep water. And then, John, we're going to have a very honest conversation about what you want. What you really want, beneath all that structure and control you've built around yourself."
