Let her go

Somehow you manage to bite down the irritation at the invasion of your privacy and grit your teeth while watching the strange servant in you room. With your rage temporarily subsided, you take a moment to inspect her. Despite her simple clothes, her features are quite stunning. The brown hair atop of her head was perfectly straight and through the reflection in the mirror you see that her face is devoid of any blemish. Certainly she has a complexion that most noblewomen only dream about.

Your inspection gets interrupted by Akina who nudges you out of the way so that she can watch and know what's going on. You and her trade places for a few moments until you see her finish what looks to be a typical morning routine and she prepares to leave. Before leaving, she tilts her head slightly in your direction. For a moment you think she caught sight of you, but she continues out like nothing happened. You give a faint sigh and whisper quietly, "She's gone."

"Finally" Akina pulls on the lever to open the passageway and quickly moves over to the door and presses her ear against it to make sure nobody is in the vicinity.

Stepping out, you feel a bit haunted by the woman's hesitation in leaving, "Is there any way she could have seen us back there?"

"No, you would have to know where the peephole is and even then, it's so dark in there that you can't see what's behind it." She answers quickly, keeping her mind focused on the door. She's right. You didn't even know the peephole was there. Briefly you wonder how many of Akina's spies have seen you naked over the years before she turns back towards you looking a bit relieved. "Well, we're safe....for now, but we need to decide where we're going and get there quickly. This is the best time to infiltrate. Most people are going to be at court or guarding the Throne Room, but we won't be able to evade detection forever."

"Well...We need to find evidence of my mother's complicity. Either proof that she was involved in my father's ****, or proof that she's a demon. I would think that the best place to go for that would be the royal bedroom, but there's no guarantee."

Akina frowns, a faint darkness covering her face, "I wish Vessa was here. She could fix this"

Lady Vessa, your father's court mage. Indeed you had heard that she was quite a talented mage who simply went missing one day. Now it seems pretty clear that she was probably your mother's first victim. Suddenly an idea strikes you, "She might still be able to. I was told that her room was left untouched after she disappeared. They were going to leave it to the new court mage, but since the position was never filled, nobody was willing to go in and mess with possibly dangerous devices."

Her eyes brighten up a little "I wouldn't know what to look for. There might be something in there that could help. So which do we want to do? Do we want to see if there's anything in the Royal Bedroom, or take a chance in Vessa's room that there might be something in there that will help?"

She looks at you expectantly.
