Chapter 3 by porneia porneia

How does the party react?

Less than organized, of course.

Sandra listens on seemingly amused as David, Vivian and Brian bicker about the best course of action, while Saul quickly scribbles down a note and hands it to you. It reads, “I leave the party immediately and sneak down the side street called 'Crooked Lane.'”

“Time to decide.” You declare and individual ask each player their course of action since they are clearly not working together.

“Ragnar, what do you do?”

“Ragnar THE Ravagener,” your friend corrects you, “just ask Rae and Eaubonne”, he adds with a rakish wink.

Vivian sputters, as Rae with a friendly hint of sarcasm plays along, “Oh, it's all true, all true”

“For course it is.” David adds and then declares, “I roll Hide in Shadows and make a run for it!” And moves his figure done a side street. “I'm out of her bitches!”

“Asshat!” Vivian hisses,”How can you Hide in Shadows while running?”

Brian moves his figure down the street after the thief, but Vivian promptly grabs the paladin and places on an entirely different road and then moves her figure in front of her boyfriend's miniature. “I cast Pass Without a Trace on myself and Sir Robert.” Vivian declares. “We're leaving the doofus to hang himself.” Looking at her roommate the redhead adds, “Come on Rae, you'll be safe with us.”

You look back at Sandra, “Having fun?” You ask.

“Actually, yes.” She smiles, “This is all very entertaining.”

“Who do you go with?” You inquire, pleased by the curvy priestess' answer.

“I want to hide in the alley I am closest too.”

“You realize it's a dead end?” Your reply causes all the other players to roll their eyes, knowing you wouldn't be so lenient with them.

“I figure the guards will all go running after everyone else”, she explains “and then I can double back.”

Sandra, a wannabee theater major, **** by her conservative parents into the more practical field of librarian science, has proven to be quite at ease with the role-playing aspects of the game. Though charming and intelligent, she isn't the greatest tactician, however. You think of having her make a Wisdom check to decide on a better plan, but you beg off, afraid the other players might get after you for favoritism.

“Alright.” You declare. “Everyone roll Dexterity to see if you can escape. Ragnar . . . the Ravagener”, you add cutting off David's objection, “also roll Hide in Shadows at a minus twenty for going fast. Eaubonne and Sir Robert, I will take the Pass Without a Trace spell into account.”

Who gets away?

More fun
