Lemiel's Reprieve

Lemiel's face twitched for a moment and then she dropped to her knees as she heard the voices, "I have not heard a friendly voice in so long. I remember you," she mutters and begins to cry, her angelic blades vanishing as she carefully wipes her tears away.

"I am not here to hurt you. I am here to get your help to fight the demons," Take says. Lemiel nods.

"I believe you. I recognize the voices you carry with you. They are... Old friends," she says her voice breaking slightly as she continues to resist the urge to cry. Her entire body shakes as relief flows through her. Her long battle finally over.

"There is not much I can offer you," she says, "at least not now, but I can offer you one thing," she says and takes from her armor a glowing feather, "this is something we worked on for a long time, but never got the chance to use. It's a key, it will dispel the barrier around the demonic temple and let you challenge the commander," she explains. As Take takes the feather Malphiel moves to Lemiel's side beginning to heal her. Her wings slowly return to form as she lets out a gentle sigh.

"Thank you, Fallen one... You remind me of another Fallen Angel I once knew... Fallen in a different sense however. I wish I had met you sooner, I could have possibly removed some of the taint from your soul. You must have suffered greatly," she says gently patting Malphiel's side.

"I wish I could be of more help to you, but I have been running on pure adrenaline for so long. Your arrival has finally allowed me to rest and as such.. I am spent. I must rest now and regather my strength, but I believe in you," she says as she slowly, gently collapses onto her back lying on the ground, staring up at the blackened skies.

"When you defeat the demonic commander... Perhaps we will meet again and I'll be able to thank you properly," she whispers before her eyes close and she goes still. For a moment it seems like she might be dead, but after a few seconds it's clear she's still breathing, just slowly.

"She'll be okay... Let's go finish the fight for her," Malphiel suggests.
