Leave town

You consider each option carefully and eventually settle on the one that seems best at this point in time: Leaving town. You are a bit apprehensive about it because you have never been out of town before, but it beats getting killed again.

More explosions interrupt your thoughts again. Five or six in total, and all of them closer to your location than any of the previous ones. That convinces you. "Screw this, I'm out of here!" You decide as you go back inside the library and start collecting the most rare and valuable books. They are of no use to you at this time, but maybe in the future, after you gain a few more levels... or you can just sell them later, if you can find a buyer. Fortunately the library is small so it doesn't take long.

When you are done you leave the library – the place that has been your home for as long as you can remember – and immediately head towards the nearest city wall. As you walk at a fast pace you hear sounds of combat in the distance behind you – and they seem to be getting closer to your former home. "Looks like I picked the right time to leave..." You shudder briefly as you imagine what might have happened to you had you remained.

Before long you reach the wall that is the town's outer border. Made of smooth gray stone its height is several times your own. Just a hour ago – has it really been such a short time since the battle began? - it would have been an obstacle you could never overcome. But now things are different.

You take a quick look around, but see no one – no invaders or defenders in the vicinity and all the local NPCs seem to be hiding inside, hoping the fighting would not reach them. With a thought you make your beautiful white angel wings appear and you start flying up, towards the top of the wall. It feels so good to be able to actually fly for more than a few brief moments!

It takes you just seconds to reach the top of the wall and fly over it, leaving the town for the first time ever. You hear more explosions and on a whim take a look back. You see more smoke and count five different columns of black smoke rising into the sky.

"Yep, things are definitely not going well." You conclude as you fly away from the burning town. "Now, where should I go?"

That is a good question. There are two different villages relatively close to your former home. There's also an explorable area – a forest, if you are not mistaken – that is relatively close, with a rather large village – almost a small town – on the edge of it. But those are just the closest locations. There are plenty of other places you could go...
