Look for a quest in a nearby village

Now that you are over the wall and out of town there's no need to waste your limited flight time, so you go back down. Once on the ground you make your wings disappear and lean your back against the cold stones of the town wall. Then you start thinking where to go.

You could just follow one of the roads leading out of town – eventually you will reach another settlement. But you have no idea where each road leads. “Should have paid more attention to the few maps I saw.” You tell yourself and sigh in annoyance.

You could go to the nearby explorable area. But, based on what you have heard about it, you are likely to encounter a number of players there, and you doubt they will be any better than the ones you have met in town. Plus you're not a fighter and exploring the... forest, was it?... is likely to involve combat.

Or you could go visit one of the nearby villages. According to what you have heard about them they are both small farming villages that seem to be there mostly to provide food for the town. There likely isn't much to see in either one, but on the plus side you are less likely to encounter some jerk... er, 'hero'.

There are two more locations you have heard about: a lake and some hills. All you know about both is that they exist. You have no idea if there's anything of interest at either place...

“Wait, didn't I hear something about quests in the two villages?” You pause and think about it, trying to remember what you have overheard from various conversations. “Let's see... if I remember correctly in one of the villages there's a quest to collect and bring back several items. In the other there should be a quest to rescue and bring back a farmer's daughter that has been kidnapped. The latter one has several versions, with the main difference being the kidnappers: bandits, goblins, orcs, some undead serving a rookie necromancer, and a few other versions. I wonder if I could accept and complete either quest? Both are supposed to be for new players, so they should be easy...” You stop talking to yourself and begin thinking about attempting either one. You have no idea if you actually can take on a quest the way players do, but if it is possible it might get you some extra experience-

Your thoughts are interrupted by a loud explosion not far from where you are. Fortunately it is on the other side of the stone wall, so you are safe – for now.

“Time to go, I guess.” You decide and start walking at a brisk pace as more explosions are heard in town.

Unfortunately you have no idea which quest is in which village, so you pick one at random and head towards it. The gathering quest seems the easier and less dangerous one, while the rescue quest seems like it is potentially more rewarding. Either way your ability to fly should give you are bit of an advantage, as both are meant for new players, and most such players are unlikely to have any sort of flight ability available to them.

Eventually, just as you are starting to get tired from walking, you reach the village...
