Chapter 154 by amon_Baal amon_Baal

How does Kaya respond?

Kaya looked confused, “I do not know what the difference is?”

Steve chose to chime in at this point. “In English, lord can have multiple meanings casually. It means leader. Or formally, it means chief or a formal position of power and authority.”

Kaya nodded, “Oh, in that case, the last one. My father sits on the herd council, represents us, negotiates for us, and the members of the herd pay him for his services by looking after his land on his behalf when he has to represent us at the council.”

Jan quickly pulled up the chair and sat down, “Your father has such a position on your world that he gets paid tithes?” she asked.

“I don’t know this word, but you know Lin is a representative of my people. This is why she came to the housewarming on the weekend. To show her support for another who has a similar station.” Kaya explained it as if it was the most normal thing.

Steve hesitated a moment before his brain caught up. “Wait, so, hang on. Your family is like royalty?” he asked.

Kaya thought for a moment, “I believe royalty would be the wrong term. Lin would be what English calls an Ambassador, and my father and mother would be one who manages the land and those who live in it.”

“Gen’s a Duke, and your mother is a Dutchess?” Steve asked.

Kaya nodded, “I believe those words were said when we were learning your world. My mother and Father do not own the land; that is on behalf of the tribes, but he does manage the land and the people in his lands.” Jan and Steve were dumbstruck. “Is there a problem?” Kaya asked, noting their silence.

Steve spoke in a broken tone, “You are a Lady, an aristocrat. We, we put an electric collar on royalty. We, oh my God.”

“Kaya, why didn’t you tell us this?” Jan asked.

Kaya looked confused, “Other than being able to talk about certain affairs and receiving a small amount of money from the herd, it means very little in our culture,” she explained. “It is why Lin asked for you specifically in your office,” she added. “I thought this was known?”

Steve laughed, “Wait, so the Ambassador of the Mythfolk came to my legal firm and asked for me because I am Hi’yet to a Duke’s daughter?”

“She could have chosen someone else, but you are capable, have an understanding of our culture and yes, am in a relationship with me, whose father represents our interests,” she explained.

“Wait, and our child?” he asked.

Kaya smiled, “In time, our child will grow to be representative of the new herd here on earth.”

Jan suddenly laughed, and Steve shot her a look, “What? My Dad is anti-monarchist, this is going to piss him off, and I have no other way to deal with this than laugh.”

“I’m sorry. Should I have told you this sooner?” Kaya asked.

Steve was still in shock, “No, I just, I never would have ever thought of this, it’s just, wow. It’s going to take some getting used to.”

Kaya laughed, “These people hold a particularly special place in your culture?”

Jan nodded, “Yeah, it’s old world heritage stuff,” Jan said, “Not a lot of people take much stock in it, but still they are influential and, generally, respected.” As Kaya went to have more pasta, it spatted and dripped, landing on her breasts. Jan smiled, “Let me,” she said. Slowly she moved around the table and gently licked the spaghetti sauce from her tits. “Tasty,” she said.

Kaya smiled and kissed Jan softly. “Thank you, that felt very nice.”
