After dinner?
Kaya heads home and Jan and Steve cuddle.
After dinner, Kaya excused herself, reminding Steve again that the next night, he would be at her and her friends' pleasure. Steve groaned as they kissed before she left via the back door.
"Our child is going to be a Lord," Steve said after a moment.
Jan laughed, "Still struggling with that, huh?" she asked. Steve nodded. "Well, Kaya's child will be, and so will mine."
Steve turned and blinked at her, "Oh my God, I hadn't even thought of that. Our children are going to be nobility.
"Come on," Jan said, taking his hand, "I want to hold you." Jan led Steve to their bedroom, where they curled up in bed and cuddled in silence for several moments.
"Jan," Steve said suddenly, "when you and Kaya were talking about the church, I felt warm and happy." He paused for a long moment, just stroking Jan's hair as they lay spooned in bed. "I love our life."
Jan laughed, "So do I," she said. "And I love that Church. Do you really think we could do it?"
Steve nodded, "I can't see why not," he said before laughing. "Though, from other people's perspective, it might be like a sex commune." He laughed for several moments more before adding, "Oh, and umm, the July party for my company, Kaya's been invited."
Jan started, "Sorry, what? How?" she asked, rolling over in his arms.
"Well, Lin came into the office today with some work for my firm, as Kaya alluded to earlier, but afterwards, I told Madeline about all of this." He paused a moment, "She asked if I was going to invite her to the company party, as partners are welcome, and I said yes."
Jan blinked for several moments, "Wow, should we, I mean, should we tell our family first? It's just, if we tell everyone in your firm first, wouldn't our family want to know first?"
Steve nodded, "Good point, we should find some time to tell them. Your folks are in town, so maybe we can go out to lunch? My parents, we'll need to do it via a phone call or online."
Jan smiled at her fiancé, "You are saying we should do it out at lunch because you are worried my father might overreact." It wasn't a question, and both Steve and Jan knew there was a distinct possibility he would.
"It's not too late. We could tell my parents now," Steve said.
Jan nodded, "I actually would like that. I mean, I'm nervous, but Kaya has become part of our life, and I want to share that with our family. You don't think Kaya would mind?"
Steve shook his head, "I will check with her now, but I don't see why she would be," he said as he typed a message into his phone.
It didn't take Kaya long to reply, and Steve laughed. "What is it?" Jan asked.
"Kaya said she likes that idea and added that she dropped her brand-new laptop jumping over the fence when she left here," he told her.
Jan joined him in his laughter, "We need a gate," she said.
Steve kissed her before he shook his head, "We would buy the church," he said. "I mean, it makes sense, and it's cheap; we could afford it on our own."
Jan disagreed, "Kay and Gen haven't agreed yet; we should wait for them, and also, their house was modified, on the taxpayers' money, to suit them; we don't know if there are conditions attached to that."
"I suppose you are right, but for now, should we rip the band-aid off?" he asked in reference to his family.

About every 500 years our plane of existence overlaps with another, during this time when these world collide beings from each world can travel to the other through rifts. The world in question contains all those fantasy creatures which are so well known to us. Collectively they are known as Mythfolk individually they are the Elves, Centaurs, Dwarves and Orcs. Countless creatures from this other world, this other place. All evidence of this happening was destroyed during the dark ages, but now it is happening again. This time however we are more advanced than last time, this time we are more accepting of differences. So this time, some of these creatures have started to migrate here, to our world.
