Kase on the last day at the castle part 5

When we got to the village there were still a couple of hours until dawn, and everything was dark. It would be dangerous to go down while everything is so dark, so I used [Predatory Eye], before descending to make sure there were no nearby enemies and after seeing that everything was clear, I wake up Ilene.

"Ilene, we arrived." I said touching her gently on the shoulder.

She woke up with difficulty and with a clearly tired face considering she hasn't been able to rest well for days.

Ilene moves her head to try to look down, "It's quite dark, I can't see anything."

"I already checked and there are no enemies nearby. What do you want to do?"

"...Let's go down."

"Are you sure? Maybe it's not a good idea for you to see how everything turned out."

When I saw the village hours ago with light, everything looked demolished. I suppose it would be disturbing for her to see her village that way.

"It's okay... Let's go." She replies.

When going down, it was difficult to recognize in which part of the village we were since there were only ruins. I managed to guide myself when I saw a part of the mansion that was still standing. On the other hand, Ilene seemed to know exactly where we were.

"So what now?" I asked.

"I want to go to my home." She answered starting to walk.

Ilene didn't seem to want to talk and was just walking. Walking beside her I noticed that her armor was broken and with several pieces missing. Her clothes were torn, especially a big cut at the height of her left chest that I suppose, Tricia cured but left the opening in her clothes. It exposed the skin of a part of her chest which Ilene doesn't seem to have noticed. Even though her nipple was covered, it still was a good view.

On the way, we found bloodstains everywhere, but there were no bodies. The monsters must have eaten them. Considering the few villagers that survived, it really was a massacre.

After walking for a few minutes we finally arrive to what's left of Ilene's house.

She just stood in front of the ruins of her house without saying anything. Watching her from the back she didn't say anything or do something. Looking aside, Amelia's house was also in the same condition. Using [Predatory Eye] I can see a large bloodstain on a part of what was her house. It seems that they tried to hide but were found.

"Ilene..." I said trying to get her attention after she stood still for a long time.

"...This house was special to me. It was my family's home. The place Darx could return to. This village was a happy place and now everyone is dead. I found a second chance in this village and seeing it all destroyed really breaks my heart." Ilene finally spoke.

I walked to her and hugged her from behind, "It's fine. You can come with me to Riledo. If you want you can stay in my mansion."

Ilene pushed my hands away, getting away from me, "You don't get it..."

Ilene walked through the ruins trying to find maybe things she could salvage.

"Ilene, it's very dark. If you want to find something we'd better come back in the morning."

Kneeling, Ilene was slow to reply, "...Maybe you're right." With a depressing tone.

"Let's go to what's left of the mansion. I saw that one part was still standing. Maybe we can find a change of clothes."

Almost all the mansion was destroyed, but some parts were intact. One of the bathrooms on the lower floor was in good condition, although without water. I decided to bring water from the river while Ilene with the help of a torch looked for a change of clothes. She found a couple of clothes that belonged to the maids and a shirt that might have been my father's for me. Ilene took a bath first and I after her.

Intelligently, she extinguishes the torch while she bathed, so I couldn't spy on her. Even if I used [Predatory Eye], I would only see a green silhouette. While she was bathing, I looked around to see where we could sleep a little. One of the offices was in decent condition and had a couple of couches where we could sleep.

This is a great opportunity. I want to finally make Ilene mine, but it appears she's upset since we've been in the ruins of her house and she hasn't spoken much. It seems that it bothers her that I didn't take the destruction of her house very seriously. I need to do something. I am not letting this opportunity pass me by.

They tried to kill me many times and on some occasions, they almost succeeded. But I stayed alive only with the goal that I would be the head of the house one day. I raised my face and taking Ilene's cheek I kissed her on the lips.
