You get up the next morning and your wife is already up as usual. She gets up around forty five minutes before you to get ready for her own job. You say good morning shortly before you jump in the shower, and then see her again downstairs where you both get coffee and breakfast. Just before you both head out the door, you kiss her goodbye.

When you get to work, you briefly talk to your boss before heading to your desk to start doing the work for the company's clients. It isn't difficult but it is time consuming. It's almost lunch time when you hear the ping of your phone. Since it might be Ariana, you hurriedly check the message, but instead of your wife, it's from Kali.

You half smile to yourself. It's obvious that the leggy blonde girlfriend of your best friend is panicking. Although Matt went to the bed room to help Kali with her needs yesterday, you're sure that she hasn't told him that he wasn't her first choice. Now she's worried you're going to drop her in it, and for good reason, because that's exactly what you plan to do.

She must be sitting by her phone, waiting for your response because she replies back quickly. You put your phone on mute so the pinging of your phone doesn't distract anyone else in the office.

Kali: so soon after yesterday?? yes!!

You decide to play with her a little. After all, if she was going to cheat on your best friend, she deserves it.

Seeing the clock in the corner of your computer screen, you notice that its time for lunch and join the other employees as they filter out of the main office space. By the time you buy your lunch from cart outside and return to the break room where you sit at a table, away from the others, Kali has already replied.

Kali: please cant you meet me to talk about this?

You mull over her request as you munch on your food. You don't really owe her anything, so there's no reason to hear her out. But you're also quite curious to hear what she could possibly say to convince you. The meeting with Matt isn't until tomorrow, so you decide that you can give her an opportunity, although you're certain that you won't change your mind to tell Matt.

You: meet me after work 2day

Kali: 2day? im not sure if i can

You: only time i can spare take it or leave it

Her next reply takes a little longer to come through, and you're not sure if she's trying to stall for time, or if she actually has a previous engagement that she needs to get out of. Either way, she'll have to work by your schedule since you're the one calling the shots here.

Kali: okay, where?

You tell her to meet you at a late night coffee shop near a secluded parking lot. She replies to confirm that she'll be there, and then you text your wife, telling her that you have to work a little late, but not too much and you should be home for a late dinner.
