Julian carefully put his mop in the water bucket and then swiped it across the flour between the cells. No matter who you are or what kind of powers you process, cleaning duty always suck. The superhuman wing in the juvenile detention center is no exception. Putting water on the ground, wipe the dirt away and move on. The only good thing at this humiliating duty is the small pay every volunteer inmate earns. Time in prison is even worse without a snack from the kiosk every now and than.

Since the first superhuman were created, a lot has changed. Once it was only a handful of special people who protected the weak and innocent and about as much people who used their powers to rule. Nowdays, people are sorted into three category. The normal humans are, like the name suggests, normal people without any enhancements. The second biggest category are the meta humans. Humans who are genetically enhanced. The third group are called techs or gadget users. Incredible smart people who are able to build high-tech equipment or trained like maniacs to become inhuman fighters. The last and smallest group is a mix of very exotic humanoid beings. Aliens, hybrids, mages and so on.

A little more than one quarter of world population is not considered a normal human anymore. Most of them only have minor tier one enhancements or just use some sort of high-tech equipment someone else crested. If they commit crimes, they are not sent to a superhuman wing in a prison. However, at least one percent of the worlds population is so far from a normal human, that the governments around the world had to build super prisons or superhuman wings in normal prisons to keep criminal superhuman under control.

These prisons are expensive and dangerous, but necessary. Many superpowers and enhancements can be removed the same way they were applied. But some are too complex to do so. Especially self made and black marked stuff, created by some shady scientists who work outside of governmental regulations. Of course there are still the mind controlling agents who are tasked with checking and changing the minds of mayor threats. But their work is not always 100 percent reliable or save. So, this is a method for only the worst kind of criminals.

And that is why he is here. In a superhuman wing of a juvenile detention center. He is currently 19 years old. This is the last year he can spent here. Soon he will be transferred to either a super prison or a superhuman wing in an adult prison. Which means in both cases, less freedom, less rehabilitation options and more severe punishments for misbehavior.
