John

In the living room, John was trapped in "conversation" with the still mute Sarah, trying to ignore Tom and Miranda getting on very well on the couch next door. John was actually trying to ignore quite a few things as he asked Sarah yes or no questions about the Little Mermaid. One thing that he was trying to ignore were Sarah's long legs, that she crossed and recrossed in front of him. Another thing were her full breasts, that stretched out her little seashell bra so much that John thought if she exhaled it might pop open.

Sarah seemed to know that he was studiously attempting not to stare at her deep cleavage, based on the way she kept shifting and bouncing in her seat, or twirling the strings of her bikini top in an effort to tempt him to peek. She almost had him when she grabbed her bra straps like suspenders and readjusted her whole chest, but then John was suddenly distracted.

Mid-word, he looked up and off towards the door, straining his ears to hear over the crackling fire and the whispering pair on the other couch. For the first time in a while, it sounded like someone was talking to him. In fact, it sounded exactly like someone had just called his name. Seconds passed of John silently listening, until Sarah rested a soft hand on his forearm. When he turned back to look at her again, she cocked her red haired head quizzically, wordlessly asking him what was wrong.

John was just about to explain that he must have been hearing things, when he heard it again.

"John!" Nicole's voice shouted, sounding strained and distant. Sarah seemed to hear it too this time, as her natural red eyebrows rose in surprise, almost as fast as John rose from his seat.

"Nicole?" He shouted back, quieting everyone else in the room as they turned to watch him walk for the door. Opening it and poking his head out, he listened for her to say something else. Maybe she needed him to fetch her some more medical supplies or something.

"John!?" Nicole sounded afraid this time, and John felt the bottom fall out of his stomach.

Before he knew what he was doing, he threw Sarah's living room door open and charged towards the stairs, shouting his friend's name again as he ran. She'd only said his name, but there was a desperation to her tone that chilled his blood and poured adrenaline into his veins. The stairs passed two or three at a time as John bounded up them, even using his hands to pull himself up the plush steps like he was climbing a mountain.

Arriving at the landing, John repeated Nicole's name again, before zeroing in only the only door that wasn't closed, light spilling through it's opening. In lunging strides, he closed the distance, before bringing his shoulder to the door and barging through it. In the bathroom, he saw Nicole on the floor with her tight dress pulled up over her ass, whilst Matt loomed over her. With one hand Matt pushed Nicole's face to the floor, whilst the other stretched out her panties, like he was about to rip them off her.

Matt was too focused on Nicole to notice, but the sound of the door slamming open made Nicole look up, wide and shocked eyes locking with John's.

In that instant, concern for Nicole overrode everything else and John launched himself at Matt like a guided missile, body checking him as hard as he could. For the second time tonight, Matt was sent flying, stumbling backwards and crashing into Sarah's radiator, a hung up towel falling over his head.

"What the hell Matt?!" John began to admonish him whilst reaching down to help Nicole, only to stop when a rage filled hand ripped the towel away from Matt's face.

Except, it wasn’t his face. Not quite. Hair sprouted from his cheeks that had not been there five minutes ago, his teeth narrowed to sharp points, his eyes were so yellow they almost glowed like headlamps, and they were flooded with an animalistic fury.

"Matt?" John repeated, but his friend didn’t even seem to recognize his name.

All John could do was watch in stupefied horror, as his friend climbed to his feet and towered over him, despite there normally being less than an inch in difference between their heights. Matt's chest seemed broader too, stretching his leather coat taut at his shoulders. At Matt's waist, his hands flexed suddenly, and where there should have been fingernails, there were razor sharp claws.

John's life began to flash before his eyes, convinced that one of those knifelike talons was about to slash his throat, until he heard the door slam open behind him again.

A trio of footsteps thundered into the room, instantly drawing Matt's attention. Tom, Sarah, and Miranda, had all followed Nicole's voice and John's lead, arriving a few seconds later to see whatever Matt had now become. The three of them ground to a halt in the doorway, staring agape at Matt.

Slitted eyes moved blankly from John, to these freshly arrived faces, cold calculus clearly going on in Matt's head, until a switch seemed to flip. Five on one seemed like enough to make “Matt” reconsider his aggression, and in a heartbeat his intentions changed from fight to flight.

Like a flash of furred lightning, Matt turned and launched himself out of Sarah's second story window. Tom and Miranda both ran over to it, expecting to see him crumpled and hurt on the grass. Instead, they got a brief view of him lolloping into the words, his twisted form moving swiftly on all fours before disappearing into the treeline.

Miranda and Tom stared after him, watching disturbed birds take flight in his wake. The bathroom was silent after his exit, the only sound was a howling from the woods, that grew more distant with every passing second.

On the floor beside Nicole, John was joined by Sarah, and together they wordlessly helped the sprawled blonde up into a kneeling position. Once they were all on the same level, Sarah gently held Tinkerbell's face with both hands, before saying her first words of the night.

"Is Matt a fucking werewolf?"
