Joey plays Goblin Elite Attack

Mai cursed her rotten luck. Whatever had been evil enough to drag her into this place was clearly still doing a number on her, as Joey revealed another card capable of defeating her Harpie Lady Sisters. Never could Joey have imagined his words would be taken so literally. The armored goblins, just a bit more noble than the regular goblins, moved in, brandishing their shields in a tower defense formation. The attacking harpies were bashed back by whacks of the shields. Once on the field, Harpie Queen dispatched the armored goblins; whatever armor Joey had been bragging about, it wasn't strong enough to stop her feathers. "There... your field's open," Mai spat, still feeling as though she hadn't gotten all of the goblins' spooge out of her throat yet. "If you give up now-"

"Heh, I'm just gettin' started!" Joey boasted predictably. Ordinarily, she'd find that endearing, but right now, she just found it frustrating. "Marmiting Captain, yer up next! With your special ability, I reveal one card on top'a my deck... Would ya look at that! It's Battleguard King!" He sounded like he'd just won the lottery. It seemed she was mistaken. As Joey tributed his marmiting captain to allow the creature a second attack, Mai's mouth gaped open, looking at the size of the creature. The king of the battleguards was so tall, his head seemed to disappear into the shadows near what should be the ceiling of the arena.
