Jessica wants to live!

[Jessica's POV]

Elizabeth has won. Carmilla and Mary are dead. What's the point? Jessica begins to rationalize. The revolution continues whether I die here or not...

"Do what you got to do" Catherine says coldly, sighing. Jessica doesn't respond.

Oh, Catherine Jessica thinks.

Elizabeth is right. I'm a killer. Why try to fight it? Why the hypocrisy? Jessica thinks. She turns to Elizabeth.

"Okay. I'll do it" she says. Elizabeth raises an eyebrow.

"Do what?" Elizabeth asks.

"I'll kill Catherine. I'll be loyal to you, again....like it was before". As Jessica speaks the words, she actively pushes her doubts as far back into the recesses of her mind as she can. Survival trumps conscience. Jessica wills herself to dismiss any feeling but raw hunger. It's easier that way.

Elizabeth releases Jessica's bonds. Jessica sits up, and rubs her sore wrists. Elizabeth holds Jessica's head and kisses her. Jessica kisses back. Their tongues play against each other. Elizabeth's lips are unbelievably soft. Elizabeth feels warm, like she has fed recently.

I tried, and I lost Jessica tells herself.

"I'm glad that you've returned to us, child", Elizabeth says, brushing the hair from Jessica's face. She tenderly kisses Jessica on the forehead. Jessica finds Elizabeth as mesmerizing as ever. She gazes into Elizabeth's dark eyes, unsure of how much time passes.

Elizabeth withdraws a long dagger from the folds of her dress, and hands it to Jessica. Jessica feels the heavy weight in her hand, the coldness of the metal. Any thought of striking at Elizabeth is immediately dismissed. It would be suicide she thinks.

"Cut her head off" Elizabeth whispers in Jessica's ear, "and then we'll go celebrate your return together".

Taking the dagger, Jessica walks over to Catherine, who lays bound to the table. Jessica refuses to look Catherine in the eye.

"I knew her born again bullshit was an act. She can't even look at me!" Catherine says, and begins to laugh. Her laughing becomes hysterical, which Jessica finds disturbing. Why won't she just shut up! Jessica thinks angrily.

Jessica brings the knife to Catherine's throat, as Catherine continues to laugh. Goodbye, Catherine...
