Jessica and Linda hit the road

Jessica and Linda are cruising down the highway, putting distance between themselves and the mansion, but Jessica is anxious.

I should have made sure that Elizabeth was dead she thinks, kicking herself. I should have burned that place to the ground.

Linda is sleeping against the car window, the passing street lights rhythmically illuminating her. Jessica glances over. She's so beautiful.

Jessica gently shakes Linda's shoulder. Linda stirs, yawning and rubbing her eyes.

"Linda, we need to find a new car" Jessica says, "and some clothes" she chuckles. "Elizabeth...err, Elizabeth's allies in the police department will be looking for this car. We need to find another."

Linda nods, shivering. Jessica turns up the heat. "It's 3am" Linda says, "we need to find somewhere to spend the day."

"Linda...I love you" Jessica says, smiling at the human.

"I love you too, Mistress" Linda says.

They leave the highway, the exit taking them to a dark and less trafficked county road. Jessica is on the lookout for a car to swap, and also a meal. She hasn't fed enough yet tonight and is ravenous.

They see headlights coming in their direction, and Jessica positions the car to block the road. She steps out of her car, waiting. The car in front of them rolls to a stop on the shoulder, and a man exits the driver side.

"What the hell are you doing in the middle of the road" he says agitatedly, "I could have hit you!"

"Relax. Tell the other passengers to get out of the car" Jessica commands. The man goes back to his car, and after a brief conversation returns with a woman.

"Listen to me. You aren't to scream or run away. You will be quiet and follow my instructions. Do you understand?" Jessica says. The humans nod.

"Good", Jessica says. She eyes the woman up and down. Larger than Linda, but this will work in a pinch. "Strip" she commands, and the woman begins undressing in the middle of the road. "Linda, come get dressed" Jessica instructs. Linda, naked, exits the vehicle and begins to dress in the woman's clothes. Jessica looks down: she is still wearing the silk gown from the mansion but it will have to do.

Jessica considers swapping license plates with the couple, but doesn't know what kind of tracking the sedan from the mansion has. She goes to get trunk, opening it and pointing at the **** blood ****. "Please transfer her to your trunk" she instructs, and the humans lift the girl into their trunk.

Linda opens the wallet that she finds in her pocket. "Michelle Baker. 1995 Chestnut Drive, Springfield" she says. "That's not far, we can wait out the day there". Jessica nods, and instructs the woman to get back her car and wait. She walks up to the man, and flashes her fangs at him. He recoils in fear, but is compelled to stand quietly.

"Jessica... We are out in the open" Linda warns, but the blood lust has taken over. Jessica pulls the man's head down to her height and sinks her fangs into his neck. She bites the artery and his life flows down her throat. She closes her eyes, savoring the meal as the moonlight beams down on her. Linda touches her shoulder, saying "Jessica...slow down.... You'll drain him".

Jessica growls "I need my strength, Linda!", Before biting back into the man's neck. He has fallen to his knees, his eyelids fluttering. Jessica follows him, kneeling in front of him and drinking him dry. The man takes his last breath, and falls forward into the road. I really needed that Jessica thinks, eyes still closed, catching her breath.

She opens her eyes, and sees Linda staring at her in horror. Guilt washes over her. Oh, Linda, I'm sorry, I couldn't stop she thinks, but knows she is lying to herself. She wanted the kill.

Jessica lifts the man into the trunk of the sedan. Shit, if I leave him they'll be able to identify him and find us she thinks. She pops the trunk and lifts the man's body out, carrying it back to the road. We'll have to dump it on the way.

Jessica drives the car into a clearing in the woods, where it is not visible from the road. She retrieves the license plates and buries them. Exiting the clearing, she finds Linda sitting in the car with the naked woman. Linda looks at her fearfully, and Jessica's heart breaks. Why didn't I stop myself?

They drive off into the night in silence, towards Springfield.
