Jessica abandons Catherine and runs

[Jessica's POV]

"Jessica, get out of here. It's okay" Catherine croaks.

Oh, Catherine, I'm so sorry Jessica thinks, tears streaming down her cheeks. Jessica curses herself for her cowardice. But she is so afraid. She runs out the door and up the stairs. She hears Catherine let out one final cry and then a horrifying ripping sound. Jessica wants to vomit.

Jessica flies through the basement. I need to get the fuck out of here she thinks. Fighting Elizabeth is hopeless. She's too strong. Jessica passes several rooms filled with captive humans. The mansion wasn't Elizabeth's only prison Jessica thinks. The basement is far larger than it appears, and she finds herself getting turned around and disoriented as she tries to flee. All the while, she can hear Elizabeth taunting her.

"Jessica. After what you did to my face, what do you think I'll do yours?" Elizabeth says, but still sounds fairly distant. Jessica realizes that she doesn't have much time.

Finally! The stairs! Jessica thinks. She runs up them, hearing Elizabeth getting closer and closer. She reaches the top of the stairs, and feels a blinding pain in her chest. Looking down, Jessica sees a stake in her heart, attached to a hand. She looks at the hand, the arm it's attached to, following the arm up to its owner.

Jade.

Jade grins at her. Jessica tries to speak, but nothing comes out, just the hoarse sound of air escaping her lungs for the last time.
