Chapter 3

So what do you want to see?
Jacob Carter (extended) (SPOILERS)
After 11 chapters, DFang went on hiatus; the story resumed five years later under TuskedCarpenter.
In addition to his phone, Jacob’s instance of the Multiplier has installed itself on his laptop and smartwatch. “Unauthorized users” can’t see or hear it, although he’s able to grant them access.
People’s profiles come with pictures of them taken at the moment the profile was opened (there’s no camera); if he connects the phone (or laptop) to the wifi, the pictures are replaced by live video (there’s still no camera). Audio is a purchasable upgrade.
Profiles also come with extremely detailed descriptions of people’s sexual history.
One important thing about Jacob’s Multiplier is that its default setting is to only show him profiles of “Top Prospects” – people with whom he has a >92% chance of a successful romantic and sexual relationship. He can look at profiles of people with lower chances of success by first changing the relevant setting. These probabilities are based on… oh, a whole bunch of factors. Remember, a high probability doesn’t necessarily mean something will happen, and a low probability doesn’t necessarily mean it won’t happen.
Another important thing about Jacob’s Multiplier is that it has an instruction manual. It’s almost nine hundred terabytes, and fits easily on a laptop with less than 0.1% that capacity.
As with all instances of the Multiplier, Jacob is able to use points to buy Attributes – for himself, for specific other people, and for everyone. There are a lot of Attributes, some of which are very weird (digest cardboard? Be better at washing dishes?). So far, the ones Jacob has purchased are pretty normal: a stamina booster for himself, an anti-jealousy attribute for all women who have sufficiently high Affection for him, and a kink-sharer for all women who have sufficiently high Lust for him. He also bought some for Tammy.
Top Prospects so far:
- Tammy. Jacob’s older sister. Floor manager at a large fashion boutique. Attributes: her tits will never sag; if she has a sex dream, it’ll be about Jacob (since deactivated); her Affection for him can only increase, never decrease.
- Molly: Tammy’s daughter. Freshman year in college, part of the track team.
- Sonia: Molly’s best friend. Also freshman year, also part of the track team.
- Penelope: Formerly Jacob’s coworker, but got promoted to being his manager ten minutes before the story started. Went a full year avoiding and disliking and fearing him because of a misunderstanding that she now admits was unbelievably stupid of her.
- Eleanor: Lived across the hall from Jacob in his old building. Works at a coffeehouse. Has been crushing on Jacob for quite a while.
- Sigrid: Cop who was stationed outside the wreckage of Jacob’s old building. Likes dinosaurs; shaves her head.
- Maggie: Jacob’s insurance agent. When she was younger, she wanted to do standup comedy.
- Belinda: Maggie’s receptionist. Has amazing braids, and likes flirting with Jacob, but they haven’t had the chance to learn about each other yet.
- Olga: an employee at Tammy’s store. Jacob has barely talked to her.
- Helen: Jacob’s boss. So far, he keeps forgetting about her, because they last interacted at the very beginning of the story and also she’s 18 years older than him. Also, she’s Penelope’s mom (but Penelope genuinely earned that promotion).
Non-Top Prospects so far:
- Sanouk: Took Jacob’s order at a food court.
- Tessa: Helped Jacob in a clothing store.
- Shondra: Bus driver who Jacob said “hi” and “bye” and “hi again” to.
- Janine: Locksmith who copied a key for Jacob.
- Anita: Old lady who Jacob bumped into, knocked over, and helped up.
There are other women in Jacob’s life, but either they did not appear directly in the story, or they have not interacted enough with Jacob in the time since he got the Multiplier for it to start tracking them.
The Multiplier can, but does not at this time, track men.
There is one lie on this page.
